         <description><![CDATA[<p><em>Brassica juncea</em> is a well-known plant used in phytoremediation for the removal of heavy metals from contaminated soil. It has a high capacity to <strong>uptake and accumulate metals</strong> such as lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), and nickel (Ni) in its roots and shoots. This process, known as <strong>phytoextraction</strong>, allows toxic metals to be removed from soil by harvesting the plant biomass. Indian mustard grows rapidly, produces large biomass, and adapts well to different environmental conditions, making it suitable for large-scale remediation projects. After harvesting, the metal-rich plant material is safely disposed of or processed, thereby reducing soil toxicity in polluted agricultural and industrial sites.</p>]]></description>
