The truth is a young baby only know what is happening now and cannot be comforted by the predictsbility of a routine for the simple reason that he cannot predict what will happen in 5 minutes time. <br><br>Strict routines can be harmful - see the link. However having a pattern to the day can be helpful for parents, as it gives structure. The pattern does need to be flexible to cope with the unpredictability of life with a new baby!</div>]]></description>
