1.Were the objectives of the project fulfilled?
The objectives of the project are fulfilled as I learn a lot of things through this posting. First of all, I understand all the structures and functions in the Haematological Laboratory. Besides, I realize the importance of a Laboratory Assistant in helping doctors of getting the diagnosis. I can learn something out of my comfort zone in which knowledge is not related to medicine. Communication skill is important in many fields especially when we need to convey and receive messages.

2.What have you enjoyed or liked the most about the project?
The session that I liked the most is the virtual tour of the Haematological Laboratory as I had never been to Haematological Laboratory before, via the Microsoft Team I can see the real structure and each session for the Laboratory. While I enjoyed doing the presentation slides with my friend as we discuss a lot of information from the cases that we find and from there I find out that discussion is important. What makes me happier is that I am able to present and explain every single test clearly, this reflects that I understand the knowledge throughout the posting.

3.What have you found challenging about this project ? (any part of project you found hard to do )
From this project, the most challenging part is that I need to learn knowledge regarding physics which most of it I had forgotten. I need to understand the structure of the machine just by watching the video and looking at photos which I cannot imagine. This is due to the covid-19 pandemic that I was unable to go to the haematological laboratory. Other than that a lot of hands-on activities like observing slides and smearing processes are unable to conduct as usual. These are the things that I find challenging.

4. What has really worked? (any part in the project that you thought worked well)
In this project, the thing that works well will is the online learning session. Initially, I thought that online learning will be difficult to catch up with all the knowledge. However, it was out of my expectation as I learn a lot through this posting especially when my supervisor spends her time with us to do the virtual tour in the haematological laboratory. Besides, during the morphology slides session, my supervisor uses a special app to show us the slides of the disease virtually. This makes me feel grateful we have such advanced technology.

5. What can be improved in this project?
I feel satisfied with this project. However, if I can use any app that can guide me on how to use the machine virtually and can know the details of how to interpret all the data from the computer screen then it will be really good. Otherwise, I feel this posting should have more students to join not just from the faculty of medicine but from biomedical science or engineering students.

A wonderful wrap up of my lab experience

1. Were the objectives of the project fulfilled?
Yes, they were fulfilled. I am glad that I managed to gain a deeper knowledge of the hematological laboratory besides knowing its sophisticated machines. I learn that being observant and meticulous is very important while performing the lab skills as I watched the lab officers demonstrating the staining technique during the virtual lab tour. I will always remind myself to be more careful when handling the specimen when I become a houseman in the future. Other than that, I realise that lab personnel also play a vital role in managing the patients as they are responsible with the production of the investigation results before doctors can finally give an accurate diagnosis and start the correct management plan. Therefore, I will always respect each of the allied healthcare personnel as they are equally important in the medical field too! Without them, we would not be able to save our patients.

2. What have you enjoyed or liked the most about the project?
I enjoyed the most in the virtual haematological lab tour as I was able to experience going into the lab and observing the procedures even though it was conducted online. I had a deeper understanding regarding the workflow process of the lab after the tour which was truly amazing to me! I also like the case presentation session on the last day of my elective posting as me and my friend managed to express and reinforce what we had learnt in the four weeks in a creative way. The discussion and sharing session in the end were fun and inspiring too as our supervisor corrected our mistakes and misunderstanding on several difficult topics.

3. What have you found challenging about this project? (any part of the project you found hard to do)
I think the most challenging part is being unable to go to the lab physically and experience performing the hands-on skills as the COVID-19 pandemic hit hard in our country. It was quite difficult imagining the operation process of the machines without observing it in real life. Besides that, we also faced the internet connection issues during our online sessions which resulted in unnecessary disruption. Luckily, our supervisor and the other lab personnel were very understanding and caring by creating another session with us whenever the internet was down.

4. What has really worked? (any part in the project that you thought worked well)
For me, I think it was the virtual lab tour. I was worried about the internet connection and the image resolution at first. However, I was grateful for the internet stability on that day as I was able to observe the lab while listening to my supervisor's explanation clearly without any lagging. Thanks to the wonderful technology of virtual meeting and my supervisor, I managed to finish my elective posting successfully.

5. What can be improved in this project?
In my opinion, a real physical tour to the haematological lab would add more fun and excitement to the project. However, it can only be realised when the pandemic situation improves. Apart from that, I think it was perfectly done and I am proud that I managed to carry it out with the help of my supervisor and my friend.

WEEK 4:
Neevehtha A/P Nyanajothi
A172220
9/8/2021-16/8/2021

1. Were the objectives of the project fulfilled?

I feel that the objectives of my project is fulfilled as my main aim was to learn a new skill through this posting. It is usually really hard to find time to do something new in the midst of medical school but this was possible thanks to this posting.I managed to learn in depth on the processes that occur before a game is developed and how team work is important in making a game successful.I learnt about the theory of colours, importance of colour in portraying the main characters and some basic coding to animate my characters.Overall it was a fruitful and fun project.

2. What have you enjoyed or liked the most about the project?

I enjoyed seeing how each part of a game comes together in the end.Every week I created a part of my game and in the final week seeing them come to life was exciting.I managed to create characters from my favourite movies as well and despite the challenges I faced, seeing the end product was worth it.

3. What have you found challenging about this project? (any part of the project you found hard to do)

To me the most challenging part was animating the characters I created since I had no background in coding and pixel art design have a specific set of knowledge I needed prior to this.I struggled in picking the right amount of pixels to animate and sometimes keyed in the wrong bases which made my character move oddly. In the lectures gives, only a limited set of animation movement was taught and rest will be taught in a more intermediate course.Unfortunately for me,some of the movements I planned for my character did not fall in the syllabus and I had to learn through Khan Academy and Youtube to be able to do so.After many many trials and errors,I was able to animate the characters the way I liked.

4. What has really worked? (any part in the project that you thought worked well)

The part that really worked well for me was that I learnt how to use photoshop in depth within a short period of time. The starting was a little confusing but when I got the hang of it,navigating through the application became easy.Another part that went for me was being able to design my characters and pixel assets well and according to the storyline I created.Albeit its a simple story with simple characters but drawing and colouring the pixels was really fun.

5. What can be improved in this project?

The only thing I would like to improve was the duration of the project.Due to examinations,I had to push my elective posting a little behind than I intended to and due to this I couldnt participate in the assignments and final projects.I feel that if I had submitted the assignment I would have learned more from the corrections and advices given by my peers and instructors. If time permitted,I would have also taken up a supplementary course on coding alone as it was interesting.

Name : Mohammad Hafizi bin Mohd Tahir

Matric’s number : A168360

Week : 4 (22/7/21-31/7/21)

Were the objectives of the project fulfilled?

After completing these full four weeks course, I think I have fulfilled all of the objectives set for my elective posting. I am very honoured to be given this golden opportunity to learn so much from one of the established companies in Malaysia. I managed to cover all the learning points at the end of the course, despite it was challenging at first for being out of my comfort zone. Overall, I am now better-equipped with fundamental knowledge regarding intellectual properties, and I think this is necessarily important when I am about to set up a business in future.

What have you enjoyed or liked the most about the project?

The thing I liked or enjoyed the most about this project is that it enabled me to expand my knowledge out of my field. I’ve got to watch how these professionals (my supervisor and his staffs) run their company especially in providing vital info and great services towards those who need. They even set up some talks which are exclusive to certain companies and organisations and I was invited for free. This knowledge will be very beneficial in future.

What have you found challenging about this project? (any part of the project you found hard to do)

As for me, the most challenging part was being unable to attend the company and work with them physically due to the Covid-19 pandemic. All of the sessions were done virtually, which means sometimes I faced internet connection problem. Fortunately, I have got a very understanding supervisor, which helped me to successfully completing this course with all of the objectives covered.

What has really worked? (any part in the project that you thought worked well)

I think the part that worked well is the sharing session by my supervisor. Even though, sometimes internet connections were poor, he managed to keep all important details delivered effectively despite time-consuming. He even went extra miles in order to make me understand and cleared my confusions about certain things. The sharing sessions itself were overall very informative and fun.

What can be improved in this project?

I think the aspect that can be improved is the method of how the sessions are conducted. It would’ve been more interesting and precious to be able to attend the sessions physically and learn as much as possible not only from my supervisor but also the other individuals in the company. Meeting many people will definitely polish my communications skills better. However, I do understand that this will only be possible once the Covid-19 pandemic has shown significant positive improvement.

Were the objectives of the project fulfilled?

Yes, they were fulfilled. I am glad that every objective that I made for this project has I completed successfully. The things that I learned and earn in this project are familiarized myself with Lens Studio, identify different types of templates, and create my augmented reality lens using Lens Studio. Other than that I also manage to achieve a certificate of course completion as I managed to complete all the tutorials and requirements of the task in this online course.

2. What have you enjoyed or liked the most about the project?

The thing I like the most is I had polish my creativeness and talent. The project had a boost and develop my skills and creativity to create a lens. I enjoyed creating the lens and posted it online as it can be used by everyone and it was satisfying to watch my lens been used by them. In addition, I enjoyed receiving feedback and comments from my friends and community as their using my lens. Indirectly I make me more learning as I fixed, repair, and improve my works.

3. What have you found challenging about this project? (any part of the project you found hard to do)

There at times where faced difficulties and challenges in completing this project. First, it was picking the main theme of my face lens. It took me much time to find proper ideas for my lens. So I look around and finding the main issue during that time. I was Olympic so I decided to pick Olympic as my main theme. Other than that, I had to choose different types of animation and templates to make my lens more colorful and interesting. It was difficult but the end product is satisfying. Also there is an event where I have completed 96% of the work but suddenly my laptop shutting down. There is no autosave and I have lost all my work. It was breaking my heart and I took a few hours to relax and calm down before I redo my work.

4. What has worked? (any part in the project that you thought worked well)

As I said before, my creativeness and talent. During my school time, I used to doing painting and coloring. Unexpectedly now I still can be having it by creating a lens in my Elective posting. I was happy and delight as from a simple tutorial, I can create complicated and complex lens by research and practicing them many times. Other than that, I can fill this activity in my leisure time as I have been mastering it.

5. What can be improved in this project?

I am using a low spec computer@gadget to completing this course/project. If I was given a very powerful gadget, I think the end product of my lens would be better and amazing as in adding any filter or animation to a work, it requires many memory and processor. But overall I was satisfied because the important is I could grab the knowledge and skills in this project to be applied later in my life.

Despite a setback caused by the exam, I was able to complete my plans and keep track of my progress in Notion using the Kanban method.

WHAT HAVE I ENJOYED/ LIKED THE MOST ABOUT THE PROJECT?

I enjoyed the fact that I am now able to understand the elements or rules used in HTML and CSS. Now that I have a basic understanding of these languages, I am looking at a website from a new perspective. Not only do I admire the aesthetic of a website, but I can also appreciate the process that went into creating it. I hope that this knowledge will remain fresh in my mind in the future.

WHAT HAVE I FOUND CHALLENGING ABOUT THIS PROJECT?

It wasn't difficult at first, but as I learned more about HTML and CSS, it became more difficult to remember. Understanding is fine, but remembering was a little difficult. It took a lot of decision-making to create a website while also ensuring that I can apply what I've learned to a website.

WHAT HAS REALLY WORKED?
I think that after just one month of learning to code, what really works for me is that I am now able to code from scratch and create a simple website. It wasn't a flashy website, but I believe what I've learned thus far has been incorporated into the process of creating my own website.

WHAT CAN BE IMPROVED IN THIS PROJECT?
I'd really enjoy it if there was a formal class that allowed me to have one-on-one sessions or just a live session with a teacher to teach about coding. However, I understand that due to the pandemic and financial constraints, those listed above may be difficult to achieve. Otherwise, I'm quite pleased with how I'm progressing.

Name: Nur Qurratu Ain Binti Shamsul Murfiz
Matrix number: A168593
Week 4

1. Were the objectives of the project fulfilled?
My objectives for this project were:

To learn in and out on how to utilise fully the tool in Microsoft Excel

Learn how to do problem sovings in Microsoft Excel

Learn how to visualize and manipulate data

Organizing data, charts and graphs efficiently and effortlessly

And yes! I manage to fulfill all of the objectives of my project.

2. What have you enjoyed or liked the most about the project?
I absolutely love the fact that I have understood better Microsoft Excel and I can extract data easily. Eversince I was a little girl, my dad has been pushing me to polish and learn the skills on doing spreadsheet on Microsoft Excel, and I never had the chance to learn it in depth before. So I am very delighted that I can now say to my dad "your girl is fluent with Microsoft Excel now" and I can finally talk his pivot languages.

3. What have you found challenging about this project?
Personally, I think by just learning the theory, it can be very confusing and you might forget it in just one night because it is A LOT to learn. It is very complex but actually if you practice and utilise it, you'll get the hang of it.

4. What has really worked?
I would say that I discovered a lot of new tools and back then I don't know how to use the formulas and function arguments in Microsoft Excel, but now I can easily solve mathematical problems via Excel!

5. What can be improved in this project?
Definitely my discipline and time management. Since it's the holidays, I took my own sweet time although I do practice here and there every day throughout the four weeks but if only I was more focused the results would be much better.

Automating Tasks with Python - Ending my Journey

Abdul Hakim bin Mohd Nor
A168290
(20 August 2021 – 26 August 2021)

1. Were the objectives of the project fulfilled?

Yes, I have fulfilled the objectives that I aimed to achieve from this project which were:

- To learn the basics of programming

- Learning how to automate simple but lengthy tasks on the computer that are practical enough for daily uses

2. What have you enjoyed or liked most about the project?

The thing I liked most is definitely the feeling of satisfaction when my program actually works and processed the materials flawlessly. Granted this did require much hard work to write and fix, it feels that much more rewarding.

3. What have you found challenging about this project?

The execution seemed simple to me at first since it involves a computer and a keyboard but learning what symbols and terms to use were already a challenge. Also with how integral mathematics are to some parts of programming, I had to familiarise with even more concepts before I get to do things effectively. If I were to describe the negative experience in one word, it would be that it’s overwhelming, since it’s harder than I anticipated.

4. What has really worked?

With the lessons provided, I was able to stuff like pattern matching, learning how to read and automatically process excel file contents, and checking email inboxes. These ones are the ones I thought would be practical enough for daily computer use.

5. What can be improved in this project?

One aspect would be time-management, where I need to be mor mindful of the scope of what needs to be learned and not get caught up on one lesson for too long. I also think it’s better for me to refer to more online sources especially videos to help with my journey, since depending on the lessons alone can be confusing. Overall, I’m quite satisfied with everything else and I wish this knowledge can persist and benefit myself in the future.

Korean Language Intensive Course

Name : Muhd Harith Syakir Bin Mohd Zain
Matrix no : GA04006
Date : 3/7/2021 - 9/7/2021

1. Were the objectives of the project fulfilled?

Yes. I strongly think so! My objectives were :-

- To learn the ground basic of Korean language

- To be able to read, understand, write and converse in Korean correctly

2. What have you enjoyed or liked most about the project?

I think I have had a whale of time enjoying this course for the entire 4 weeks because I was able to learn from experts in Korean language. Also, I had the opportunity to study together with people who bear the same passion and interest.

3. What have you found challenging about this project?

Frankly, there are ups and downs moments throughout the journey in learning it. It was a roller-coaster ride. There are times where I will go clueless with what the teacher was trying to explain as it was hard to grasp the rules and grammars. Not to mention, there are tons of nouns and verbs that are new to our dictionary that need to be memorized.

4. What has really worked?

I found that skimming and revising through the notes beforehand really do help in understanding language better, ideally a few days before actual classes commence. Doing a self-study turns out may help ourselves to understand better during classes and ease the learning process.

5. What can be improved in this project?

I legit believe I really need to do more works on my time management and work schedules. Having a night class for this course sometimes do take a toll on my mental well-being as I got few other works that need to be settled in the day. So, having to attend night classes is quite draining me. However, it was manageable, I presume because if I had allocated my works accordingly and systemically, maybe I can have settle them much quicker and had time to rest before classes.
