I think we need to have a reading curriculum or something to follow. Maybe training or information on guided reading groups and how we can best support each student at their reading level.

I am wondering what schools like Edison are doing in the primary grades to show so much growth. Are they using the same resources that are given by the district? It seems like these schools also show a more consistent growth as they reach the intermediate grades. I think we are missing a solid reading curriculum. There is not enough to Benchmark to meet the ELA standards and it is harder to pull in resources than it is for math because there are so many more components to ELA.

I wonder what Harding is doing because they are near the top in most grade levels. It seems that no matter what reading curriculum we have adopted in the last 10 years, it doesn't really suit the needs of the students or follow Indiana standards. We tend to follow the standards for math as a curriculum, but it is more difficult in ELA to do that. I wonder what the actual RIT scores look like in comparison to growth, if we did a graph of average RIT scores.
