It's cowardly because many people use the internet in ways to communicate that they would never do in person. Suddenly, veiled by the black screen, people find the boldness to do things they would never do face to face. Being a good digital citizen is important because it values technology as a tool, it values the uniqueness of others, and it promotes healthy boundaries of communication. When used as a tool, technology can be very helpful in communication of ideas. Used as a weapon or irresponsibly, it can be used to destroy, wound, or possibly lead to someone's death. 2. Role play with students- have them get into groups of two and together think of 2 skits....one modeling good digital citizenship and the other abusing technology in some way.  Have the classroom as a whole brainstorm how technology was misused.
