In the story, they got old yeller, when he was a stray. He was thin and old. My dog was trained to be a fighter dog, like a police dog, before he was with us. His ears were tied up on his head to keep them out of his face, and so now they are shaped a little strange. Old yeller has one ear with a bite like shape cut out of it, and a stub for a tail. I can make a connection to the story because sometimes me and Nora look for worms and Nora will then treat them like pets. (I suggest to use them as fishing bait but we never find time to go fishing. Also in the story Travis and arliss get into tons of arguments, at home me and Nora do the same thing, constant arguing.

This comes as a surprise to the mom. I can make a connection because me and Nora are both scared of jumpy dogs and our neighbors dog in still growing up so he is jumpy. Nora is more scared than me. So it came as a huge surprise to my mom when the dog accidentally dropped his ball and Nora started to play with him. He would drop the ball then Nora would give it back.
