The first piece of evidence that supports Ted Cruz winning the midterm election race is the public opinion poll from the New York Times that it indicates that he will win at least 51% of the popular vote compared to Beto O’Rourke who is predicted to win 43% of the vote. The New York Times supports our prediction that Ted Cruz will win since it shows that he has a majority of the popular vote from this poll. The second piece of evidence is that Texas hasn’t elected a Democrat into any political office since 1994, which shows that Texans favor conservative candidates like Ted Cruz. Also, Ted Cruz has been a senator in 2012 so he has the incumbency advantage of already being known and experienced in the Senate according to the New York Times. With the incumbency advantage and Texas voting for conservative candidates consistently. One flaw in our argument however is that KCBD explains that voter turnout in young adults is up 500% in the Texas Senate race, which positively influences Beto O’Rourke’s chance of winning since young adults tend to be democratic and vote for fellow Democrats like O’Rourke.
