From 2013 until 2017, I studied at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bandar Kuching No.1.

From 2018 until 2019, I studied at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Pending as a From 6 student.

From 2020 until now, I am studying at Unversity Malaysia Sarawak as a undergraduate student and my course is Bachelor’s Degree of Finance.

Besides, I also have good learning skill. I use many different effective learning ways to study well based on the situation. For example,  I use my imagination to connect all the content, so that can make me easily to remember it.

Lastly, I also have good time management skill. I will manage my time well, so that can avoid from wasting time and can complete all things within the time that I set.

In conclusion, this skills can help me to overcome the problem I faced and complete my work within the time. Therefore, having a skill is very important to us.

 

From the meeting, Dr Rayenda told us he hope that we can get CGPA 3.7 and above in this semester 1. In addition, he also told us that our first semester is very important, so we have to make sure that we can score higher CGPA in this semester. This is because first semester usually is the easiest semester. Furthermore, I also got an advice about if we learn slowly, we have to take a lot of exercises to do to improve our understanding of the learning contents and we also may discuss with our friends.

 

Besides, Dr Rayenda also shared about our university courses including Appreciation of Ethics and Civilization and Foundation of Entrepreneurship Inculturation and core courses including Principles of Economics, Principle of Accounting, Business Mathematics and Principles of Management. For the core course, Dr Rayenda shared us that Business Mathematics is the easiest core course compare to other core courses. In addition, he advised us if don’t understand something about the business mathematics or even other courses, we have to ask our lecturer. Furthemore, Dr Rayenda also told us the lecturer of Principles of Accounting, Dr Harry is a very senior lecturer in UNIMAS. Moreover, he also advised us especially some of us who has not accounting basic including me, we have to study hard by taking more time to learn accounting and also take more practice, so that we can improve our understanding for accounting. 

 

Additionally, he also shared about the mode of online exam. He said that online exam is divided into many parts to be carried on and has different modes but it will depend on the lecturer to decide which mode of the online exam will be carried on. Some of the lecturers will give assignment to us and ask us to submit it online. Some of the lecturers will give online quiz while some of the lecturer will allow students to open book during exam but it will based on the situation.

 

Apart from that, I also received suggestion from Dr Rayenda on time management. First, he suggest us so that we must know ourselves first, so that we can effectively to manage the time. We have to recognize our personality and situation of study because different people will have different personality and situation of study. Therefore, we  can create a study timetable that is the most suitable to us rather than just copy and use timetable for study from other people.

 

Furthermore, Dr Rayenda also shared to us that different lecturer has different feedback when we asking a question to our lecturer. No matter how our lecturer give us what feedback, we have to ask politely to our lecturer. In addition, if we want to ask any question, the best time for asking question is during the lesson time rather than asking question during weekend or after 8pm.

 

Moreover, Dr Rayenda also shared something about the eLEAP. He gave advice to us that we have to often check the eLEAP because lecturer will upload the learning material, assignment, quiz or even link related to the learning material in the eLEAP. In addition, when our lecturer have not upload anything in eLEAP, our first step is  need to check the eLEAP at least twice. If lecturer still have not fulfill the board in eLEAP, the next step is we have to email to our lecturer, so that lecturer can fulfill the board in eLEAP. 

 

Lastly, Dr Rayenda told us if we want to meet him privately, we can make appointment with him by using any platform. In addition, he also told us next semester we have to meet him for first two weeks. Apart from that, he advised us to always stay health in mental and even physical.

 

In conclusion, I have learned many things from this meeting. First is how can study well and smart by asking more questions to our lecturer, take more time to study the course that we have less understanding about the course and do more exercises to improve our understanding of any course. Besides, I also learn good time management by recognize ourselves first, then plan a study timetable that is the most suitable to me. Finally, we also have always to be polite and respect our lecturer especially when asking any question to our lecturer.

 

First of all, I accessed the http://www.library.unimas.my/ for enter the PeTARY. After that, the homepage of the PeTARY will show to us. From the homepage, there has a LibrARY OneSearch can let us to key in the title or keyword of reading materials and then press enter. In order to find the finance textbook references, I key in the keyword which is ‘Finance’ by using the LibrARY OneSearch and press enter. After that, the result of reading materials about the finance were showed. Because of I wanted to find 2 textbook references for my finance course, so I used the filter which is on the left side. From the filter, I choose the book which is under the item types. After that, I can see the result of Finance textbook references were showed. The next step is I clicked any 2 finance textbook references namely “Finance: Capital Market , Financial Management, and Investment Management” and “Finance” for looking their detail. Those 2 textbook references include the detail about the title of textbook reference, author, publisher’s name, published year, description, ISBN, location, call number, status and so on. In addition, the textbook references show is available and it means I can borrow the textbook references.

 

The second kind of reading material is novel. I also used LibrARY OneSearch to key in the keyword which is novel. After that, it show the result of the novel and I chose 2 novels with different languages which are English novel namely “How to Study A Thomas Hardy Novel” and Malay novel namely “Novel-novel Malaysia: Dalam Kritikan/Diselenggarakan Oleh Hamza Hamdani”. Next, I clicked those two novels to read their details. Those two novel also have the detail for title of the novel, author, publisher’s name, published year, description, ISBN location, call number, status, barcode and so on. Besides, this 2 novels that I found are also available to me to borrow.

 

The third kind of reading material is e-book which is available since 2019. In order to find this e-book, I’m not continued to use the LibrARY OneSearch because it just can search for the book which is physical but not electronic. Therefore, I clicked the Online Resource which is above the LibrARY OneSearch and then clicked the E-collection. After that, the E-collection page was showed the types of the reading material including e-books, e-journals, online databases, electronic resources (on trial) and open access education resources. The next step is I clicked the e-books and go to the page of Centre Academic Information Services (UNIMAS). In that page, there has many e-book resources that we can choose to use. Therefore, I chose and clicked the World Scientific E-books. After reached to its page, I key in the keyword which is finance in the search engine and it showed the results. Then, I also chose and read the details of any 2 finance e-book namely “Global Corporate Finance” and “Entrepreneurial Finance”. Those 2 e-books include the details such as title of the e-book, author, published year and month, link, total pages, ISBN and many more.

 

The fourth kind of the reading material is e-journal. In order to find the e-journal that was published by the Unimas, I accessed to http://publisher.unimas.my/ojs/index.php/index/index into Unimas journal website. After reached that website, I chose any 2 e-journal namely “International Journal of Business Society” and “ Journal of Civil Engineering, Science and Technology”. In addition, The e-journal includes its details such as title of e-journal, article, author, published date, DOI and so on. Besid3s, e-journal also has full text pdf that we can download it for reading.

 

The fifth kind of reading material is online databases. I clicked again the E-Resources and chose databases namely EBSCOhost. After reached its page, I key in the search engine with a keyword ‘education’ and it showed the results. Then, I chose and read the details of any 2 academic journal article under online databases namely “A review on phytochemistry and pharmacological uses of Tecoma stans (L.) Juss. ex Kunth” and “Deciphering the antitumoral potential of the bioactive metabolites from medicinal mushroom Inonotus obliquus”. The details include title, author, publisher’s name, published year, DOI and so on. In addition, some of the online databases have full text in pdf and we can download the pdf to read.

 

The last kind of reading material is newspaper article. In order to find the the newspaper article in 2020, I clicked the column of COVID-19 above the LibrARY OneSearch. In that column, I clicked the Article and News on COVID-19 Response and the results are showed. After that, I chose and read any 2 online news namely “Hospital Receives Body Bag Donation” and “Research on Playful Learning Mode”.

 

In conclusion, finding the reading materials is very convenient to me because I just need to key in the keyword in the search engine under the LibrARY OneSearch and press enter, then it will shows the results to me. Besides, if I want to specify the finding of materials, I just need to choose the category of the filter which is on the left side, then I will get the results that I want. In addition, I also can find the online reading materials such as e-books, e-journals, online databases and so on with different resources of each online reading materials.
