The Diné culture is a beautiful, significant community from the Southwest reservations in the United States. The Navajo Nation is the largest reservation in the United States and is within Arizona, Utah, and New Mexico. Some cultural teachings and values of the Diné include focusing on the wellness of ones' self. The Diné emphasize the importance of self-care, resiliency, protection of ones self, and self-respect. The Diné believe that each of these values is represented within four sacred mountains: Blanca Peak, Mount Taylor, San Fransisco Peak, and Hesperus Mountain. The image above shows the representation of these values within the sacred mountains. One tradition the Diné people follow and are known for is the tradition of their introduction. The Diné introduction includes the greeting (Yá’át’ééh), the person's name, the name of their mother's clan, the name of their father's clan, the name of their mother's father's clan, and the name of their father's father's clan, and the statement that the person is Diné. This tradition is highly valued so when meeting someone, they could make a possible connections of the same clans. The Diné culture is truly a beautiful, inspiring culture from Arizona.
