I grew up learning how to play the violin with the Suzuki Method. I switched over to the viola when I went in to high school. I went to Baylor University for music education. I have had the chance to take Suzuki training with some really great teachers. I am very excited to start my fourth year as the Suzuki Strings teacher at Spring Garden.

Suzuki Strings is offered in HEBISD as part of the Schools of Choice program. Spring Garden is one of ten elementary schools in HEB to offer a Suzuki Strings program. Students learn to play the violin, viola, cello, or bass by attending private lessons, weekly group classes, daily listening, and at home practice. Studies have shown that learning a musical instrument increases a student's achievement in school. In addition, it provides a fun way for you to take an important role in your child's education, while providing them with a skill to treasure for a lifetime.

Program Requirements:

Attend weekly lesson with the home teacher present

Take notes of important lesson points to help with home practice

Student and home teacher will practice consistently at home together to meet goals

Daily time listening to Suzuki recordings

Attend weekly group classes

Provide instrument and materials

Meet yearly goals to show progress on the instrument

Participate in performances

Follow the HEB behavior expectations
