         <description><![CDATA[<div>There was only 3-10 % oxygen in the atmosphere, that's not so much compared to what we have today 21%.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The climate was getting warmer and warmer. Especially around the equator , it was like tropical climate and in some parts the weather was very dry and arid mostly near the north and south pole where it was the dryest. The temprature was on average on 30 degress celcius in early devonian. But the temprature dropped because the plants  drew out the carbon out of the atmosphere, which made the temprature go down to 5 degress celcius. The land near the poles were colder. <br>But in the end of this period the climate was getting colder and colder, and glaciations started to form. Many species went extinct because it got colder. This cold lasted for 100 million years untill the beginning of the tirassic period. It got colder because of the photosynthesis, it started to form forests, which means that the plants need carbon dioxide to live so there was less carbon dioxide in the atmosphere  and this may have contirbuted to the coldness. But the coldness can also maybe be explained by the position of the continents, when the continents was remodelling the water currents are changed. The oceans are important because it redistributes the heat around earth, so a small change in the oceans can change the climate.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Oceans</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The oceans covered 85 % of the earths surface. The devonian time period is called the " age of fishes", because there was diverse, bizarre types of fishes and other animals that lives in the oceans. Because the climate was so warm the sea level was high because all the ice in the oceans melted, and it was much higher than it is today.<br>There was many different kind of fishes, there was the jawless fishes that had existed since the silurian time period. The jawless fishes got company from the fishes that had jaws. It appeared new types of sharks and fishes. In the oceans there was many coral reefs, and by the coral reefs the first ammonites lived. Ammonites is a type of octopus, that first appeared during Devonian time. They lived in warm water togheter with crinoids and brachiopods.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There was not alot of ice caps because the climate was getting warmer. Late in this period the first four- legged amphibians appeared. The biological develoment was fast during this time period devonian.<br>Extinction, almost 70 % of all species went extinct.<br>The agnathan fish went extinction. The agnathan is ancestors to all the fishes that have jaws and vertebrates.<br>In the end of the devonian period the first seed bearing plant appeared.<br>In late devonian the stromatoporoids got extinct along with the Brachiopod. This also affected the fishes espacially the fishes with no jaws, the also went extinct</div>]]></description>

         <title>Dominat species</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There was different types that were dominant, for example tetrapods. And the land living vertebrates. The fishes with jaws appered first in silurian, but they became dominant in devonian. <br>Placodermi<br>Was a diverse type of fish and it became one of the dominant speicies, it was also one of the first fish/shark that got jaws. Which meant that they could eat the fishes that did not have a jaw and that they were stronger than them<br> They could be up to 4 metres.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Geographic landscape</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The two supercontinents was collected. North america, greenland and europe were togheter into one super big continent which was called Laurussia. During this period the two supercontinents Gondwana and Euramerica began to collide, which made the appalachian mountains to raise. The largest reefs in the world.<br>Free sporing vascular began to grow all over the dry land, which formed forests that covered the continents. In the middle of the devonian period the plants evolved leaves and roots. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>One apex predator was the  Dunkleosteus, it was a large fish. It was an arthodire which means that it belongs to the advanced members of the fishes. The Dunkleoteus could be longer than a london bus, and it weight about 4000 kg. This shark later became extinct because of the oxygen levels in the water</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The fossils shows that there were at least 2 new gruops of fish. It also shows that there was species that had horse shoe shaped or rounded shields head.<br>There is also fossil reefs from this time period, and it's found in Canada which is a cold place for this to occur. But know we know that devonian was a warm period and that the coral reefs lived near Canada.</div>]]></description>
