My name is Nurain Sarah Sofea. My matric number is 2429168. I was born and raised in Shah Alam, Selangor. Currently, I am a 1st year student in Degree in Law in IIUM.

Before joining IIUM, I studied a Diploma in Law at the International Islamic College for 2 years and 8 months, during which I gained a solid foundation in legal knowledge and research skills. During my diploma, I also completed a 2-month internship at Law Practice of Junny Erfisyahry, which I continued for a total of 5 months. There, I assisted my supervisor with legal documents, conducted legal research, and even contributed to some marketing tasks.

I love cats, matcha, and I enjoy spending time on my own. In my free time, I like exploring cafes, watching crime documentaries, and taking pictures.

I also love learning new things, especially about different cultures and societies. I enjoy attending talks or discussions about topics such as society, relationships, psychology, and life. These interests help me understand the world better and allow me to approach people and situations with an open mind.

Knowledge also helps leaders use their power the right way. In Islam, knowledge is an amanah (trust). It guides leaders to act with justice (‘adl) and wisdom (hikmah). Without it, decisions may be based on emotion or personal interest. With it, leaders are more likely to choose what is fair, moral, and beneficial for all.

Getting guidance besides the Qur’an and Sunnah helps a person:

• Understand Islam better, especially in new or tricky situations.

• Make smarter and fair decisions by learning from scholars.

• Feel more confident and strong in their faith.

• Solve everyday problems that the Qur’an and Sunnah don’t talk about directly.

• Stay balanced and avoid extreme ideas.

To practice īmān on the internet, choose content that strengthens your faith and avoid anything against Islamic values. Always be honest and don’t spread false information or rumors. Before posting or commenting, ask yourself, “Would Allah be pleased with what I’m sharing?” This keeps your online actions connected to your belief.

For iḥsān, share helpful and positive things with ikhlāṣ pure sincerity meaning you do it only to please Allah, not for likes or attention. Be kind and patient when talking to others, even if they upset you. Help people quietly without expecting praise, and always use polite and respectful words. This shows the best and most sincere version of yourself online.

My favorite character is Moana, her courage to face challenges, her responsibility to family and island, respect for nature, the journey of self-discovery, and her kind, caring leadership. These values make her story inspiring and relatable.

Surah verse that I am interested in explaining the day of judgment is Surah Al-Infitar (82:1-5)

This verse talks about what will happen on the Day of Judgment. The sky will break apart, stars will fall, the seas will overflow, and even the graves will open. It shows how everything will be shaken up and nothing will stay the same. Most importantly, every person will clearly know everything they have done the good and the bad. This reminds us to always be careful about our actions before that day arrives.

One experience that really strengthened my belief in qada’ and qadar was when I applied for a law degree at UiTM Shah Alam. I went through the interview twice and truly hoped to be accepted, but I did not get the offer. At first, I thought I didn’t deserve IIUM because it is such a top university and the requirements were so high. I had always underestimated myself, yet Allah guided me to IIUM anyway. What I first thought was a disappointment turned out to be a blessing, as Allah’s plan was far better than mine.

The Qur’anic verse that helped me understand this is:

Surah At-Taghabun (64:11)

“No disaster strikes except by permission of Allah. And whoever believes in Allah – He will guide his heart. And Allah is Knowing of all things.”

This verse reminds me that everything happens by Allah’s will, and if we trust Him, He will guide our hearts to what is truly best.

Topic: The Power of Dua

Dua is one of the most powerful tools a Muslim can have because it gives us a direct connection with Allah, without needing anyone in between. Allah promises to respond when we call on Him, and dua is never wasted: sometimes He grants exactly what we ask for, sometimes He delays it for the best time, sometimes He replaces it with something even better, and sometimes He protects us from harm.

Beyond the results, making dua brings peace and strength to the heart, because we know Allah is listening and that we are turning to the One who controls everything. The Prophet ﷺ even said that nothing can change the Divine decree except dua, which shows its power to influence our lives and destiny.

In short, dua is more than just asking for something, it is an act of worship, it brings peace to our hearts, and it allows Allah’s mercy to come into our lives.

1. Adil & Ḥikmah

   • Allah is always fair. If innocent people face hardship in war, He will ensure they get justice in this world or the afterlife.

   • Everything happens with His perfect knowledge and plan, even when we cannot see the reason.

   
   

2. Allah’s Will (Irādah) & Power (Qudrah)

   • Nothing happens unless Allah allows it. Everything in the world good or bad happens according to His plan.

   • Even terrible events, like wars or disasters, are part of Allah’s plan. Muslims believe that Allah is always in control, even if things look confusing or chaotic to us.

From the discussion, I learned the importance of respecting cultural differences while still holding on to our own values. Modesty and respect should go together, and as Muslims, we are reminded to approach such issues with fairness and wisdom.

Most importantly, I learned to be grateful for what I have, knowing not everyone is as lucky, especially when seeing what is happening in Palestine. This usrah also taught me to accept qada’ and qadar, and to trust Allah’s plan.

We ended our last class with desserts, laughter, and pictures, which made it even more memorable. May Allah guide us to continue practicing what we’ve learned and to become better Muslims, inshaAllah.

For the victim, I would make sure they feel safe and supported by giving them counseling and encouragement to speak up. For the bully, punishment should be balanced with guidance and counseling, with help from parents and teachers, so they can change their behavior.

The change I would like to see is ending the culture of silence. Many victims are too scared to report or are ignored when they do. If schools took stronger action and gave proper support, both victims and bullies would have the chance to recover and improve themselves.

At the same time, I believe stricter laws or amendments should be introduced to address bullying cases more seriously. With stronger rules and proper support, schools can ensure a safer environment while also guiding students to become better individuals.

This week, I learned about the importance of the main acts of worship in Islam: salah, fasting, zakat, and hajj. I understood that these acts are not just obligations but are meant to strengthen faith, develop self-discipline, purify the soul, and bring us closer to Allah. They also help us avoid sinful behaviour and become better Muslims.

Week 3

This week, I learned about taharah (purification) and its importance in worship. I gained a better understanding of wudu, tayammum, the conditions and pillars of salah, as well as the different types of prayers such as nawafil prayers. I also learned that Islam provides ease in worship through qasr, jama’, and special rulings for prayer during illness.

Week 4

This week, I learned about obedience to Allah and His Messenger by following their commands and avoiding what is prohibited. I also learned that jihad involves striving sincerely in the path of Allah through actions, knowledge, and self-improvement. The lesson on muhasabah reminded me to regularly reflect on my actions, repent for my mistakes, and continuously work towards becoming a better Muslim.

Week 6: Sabr & Takrim
This week taught me the value of patience in worship, resisting temptations, and accepting Allah’s decree. I also learned that respect and good manners should be shown to everyone regardless of their background, while treating others with kindness and fairness.

Week 7: Rahmah & Tawakkul
I learned that mercy encourages us to care for, help, and support one another in building a better society. I also learned that relying on Allah means putting in our best effort first and then trusting Him with the outcome.

I’m really grateful for all the discussions, memories, and ukhuwah we shared along the way. May Allah bless everyone and keep us connected even after this usrah ends.
