Procedures for entering the classroom

1) Entering the classroom quickly, quietly and going straight to their assigned seat. This sets the tone for the lesson to begin without any distractions. The same as lining up for recess, lunch or going home. If water is needed on a hot day, students simply put three fingers to their lips to let me know they would like a drink at the back fountain and I simply nod, "yes."

Asking for help

2) Students raise their hand and wait until I am finished speaking and or giving directions. If I am with a group, students may ask three before me in a quiet voice. This ensures that I am not disturbed during Universal Access/ Reading groups.
