Occupation is a fundamental right, that enables one to have social interaction and to gain financial support. However, it is an undeniable source of stress, with consequence for physical and mental health. This will eventually lead to depression. There are many factors of depression related to occupation. The factors are shift work, type of job and high levels of job demands.

Research regarding rotating shift work as well as night work is growing which will not only affect our mental health but also on the circadian system and general health. Shift work sleep disorder is common among night and rotating shift workers. Individuals with shift work sleep disorder, usually in males, have been found to result in high rate of depression. In addition, the number of shift work can also cause depression by declining the level of mental health. According to Luca et al., (2014) through a research done by the National Centre for Biotechnology Information (NCBI),” higher level of symptoms off stress were found in nurses undertaking three-shift work compared to those performing two-shift work. The years of shift work also play a role in the occurrence of depressive symptoms.” Luca et al., (2014) also stated that night workers who had worked for 6-10 years have six times prevalence of depressive disorder than those who had done so for 1-5 years.

Next, type of job is also one of the factors of depression related to occupation. The scope is too big for a research to be done. However, different job effects one mental health differently. For instance, precarious employment has been associated with a high prevalence of occupational injuries, a higher mortality rate, and poor mental health. On the other hand, permanent workers were found to suffer greater distress about job pressure, whereas fixed term workers were more distressed by job insecurity.

Last but not least, high level of job demands could cause depression. High level of job demands will increase burnout rates among workers that could affect their mental health. Examples of occupation with high burnout rates are teacher, social worker, police officer and public accounting.

In conclusion, there is a relationship between occupation and depression. Shift work, type of job and job demands are factors of depression.

When people are depressed, they feel like they will never get out from under a dark shadow. They often haunted by kind of thoughts. There are voices asking them to hurt themselves, or even ask them to commit suicide. Ending their own life seems like is the best way to find peaceful in their mind. However, even the most severe depression is treatable. There are many effective treatments available to overcome depression, and help the patient to feel happy and hopeful again.

According to Nancy Schimelpfening (2018), she states that there are 7 types of psychotherapy, family or couple therapy, hospitalization, medications and self-help strategies are effective on handling depression. For the psychotherapy, it includes interpersonal therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, social skills therapy, psychodynamic therapy, supportive counseling, behavioral activation and also problem-solving therapy. A psychotherapist is involved in all kind of therapies. Family or couple therapy is the therapy that involves other family members focuses on the interpersonal relationships. Hospitalization may become necessary when the patient has become a danger to himself or others. There are also several different medications that can help to reduce the symptoms of depression. Some self-help strategies may be helpful for those who cannot access professional resources or to someone with mild symptoms. Joana Saisan (2018) says that different people should be treated differently as no two people are affected the exact same way by depression. The best way to treat depression is to become as informed as possible about the treatment options, and then tailor them to meet your needs.

In conclusion, if you are depressed, please voice out and seek for help. Do not ever keep it to yourself and let the condition worsen. There are a lot of effective treatments out there and I believe there must be at least one treatment that suits you.

Depression has been one of the most prevalent mental disorder among teenagers these days. Researchers have proven that one out of every eight adolescents are facing teen depression and this shows the severity of this disorder among teenagers.

As an overview to what depression is all about I am going to state the causes,,symptoms, and steps of measure that can be taken by parents. Firstly, the causes of teen depression such as feeling of worthlessness and most commonly feeling of inadequacy over their grades, symptoms of teen depression such as preoccupation with death and loss of appetite and how parents can do to alleviate teen depression like having a good communication with their children and not be too strict with them. These points are also mentioned in an article derived from "WebMD".

An individual is said to get anxiety and depression at once even though in the world of health the both are different disorders with distinct characteristics. The differences between the two disorders are not much but they overlap in neurobiology given the psychological and biological nature of the disorders are the same. As said earlier the individuals who have these two disorders will showcase the same behaviour such as suicidal thoughts and feeling worthlessness.Individuals that develop anxiety only or depression only are more safer compared to when an individual developed both the disorders at once as the severity of the symptoms and effects will be much intense. This is also said in an article written by Hara Estroff Marano.

In a nutshell, teenagers are said to be the pillar of the country. The points I have in my segment is to work on creating awareness and at the same time help to expose both parents and teenagers on depression and anxiety so that the number of teenagers who are facing depression can be reduced.

Facing the Danger of Teen Suicide

The recent suicides of few public figures, as well as growing awareness of non-suicidal self-injury, have triggered conversations about how much more we need to learn about who is at risk. This segment is mostly contributed by an article wrote by Tracy Dennis, a Professor of Psychology at Hunter College of the City University of New York on July 10, 2018 and by an article on www.mentalhealthamerica.net. According to Tracy Dennis, parents of teens in particular may be thoughtful and concerned because according to statistics, each year, almost 5,000 teens commit suicide.

Psychological risk factors

To prevent this phenomenon, we need to recognize the risk factors of teen suicide

· Suicide threats

· Suicidal ideation

· Impulsive behaviour

· Poor problem solving

· Disconnection

Our Part to help?

Both article states the first step to help preventing teen suicide is by;

· Talking and listen to them, we need to encourage depressed teens to talk about their feelings. Listen, don’t lecture.

· Trust your instincts. If it seems that the situation may be serious, seek prompt help. Break a confidence if necessary, in order to save a life.

· Seek professional help. It is essential to seek expert advice from a mental health professional who has experience helping depressed teens.

As a conclusion, based on these two articles, both authors stated that in order for the community to create an impact on the graph of teen suicides, action has to be taken by not only teenagers, but even from each and every segments of the community, especially their teachers. If everyone in the whole community take action seriously to deal with this issue, both author agrees, that the world may reach to a point where teen suicide is no more a normal issue in the society.
