Previously, when early hominids were hunters and gatherers, the Paleolithic Age, hunting was a risk for safety of communities.  This was replaced by agriculture, which was reliable.  Another reason why agriculture is important is the development of permanent shelters. Following the start of farms, hominids had discovered that they no longer were forced to follow migration patterns of animals. As stated in the fourth paragraph of section 3.2, it states," People in settlements like these lived very different lives from earlier hunters-gatherers. With farms to provide their food, they could build permanent shelters and form larger communities," In other words, permanent shelters were made in order to optimize farming. It is important because it is how farming was created and it was the beginning of farming. This beginning of agriculture brought the farm veggies to the table. This was an important part of history that marked the beginning of agriculture. They also do that in a certain and familiar way. With chickens they feed them seeds and raise them in a secure barn then after they are raised enough they are taken to a slaughter house to be slaughtered, packaged then taken on the road to grocery markets all around the world. Back then though it was different. They would go out and hunt for there food and then hey would raise it in their cave feed it and then after a while they would get a stick and something sharp and kill it then eat it.
