She is from earth and has lived on earth for a while until she then moves to Venus. The sun only rises every seven years and for only two hours. For the rest of the year it rains all day. Margot is different from them because she is from earth and they don't like that. The other kids like to bully her and treat her differently because she has seen the sun more times than they have.
