384 BC - 322 BC

Aristotle believed the Geocentric was the correct solar system

Aristotle claimed that the earth was the center of the solar system and all the plants were perfect spheres and moved in perfect circles around the earth. The stars were also set, did not move

Aristotle's solar system was flawed. It had made three big flaws, it did not explain why sometimes the planets looked brighter, why the planets looked bigger, and the last one was why the plants sometimes appeared to move backwords.

100 AD - 170 AD

Ptolemy believed in the Geometric solar system

Ptolemy's main improvement focused on explaining Aristotle's three main flaws. Ptolemy added circles called Epicycles that explained why sometimes the planets look different because on top of moving in circles around the plant there doing circles in the circle sounds confusing well ya it is.

The main flaw with Ptolemy's solar system is that it's too messy he had to keep on adding circles to circles and the math just did not mess up, it's too messy.

1473 - 1543

Copernican believed the heliocentric solar system

Copernican made a new claim about the solar system he believed the sun was the center of the universe and the correct order of the planets was Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and that all orbited the sun and the moon orbited the earth. He also used epicycles but all the epicycles moved at the same speed. Overall he really simplified Ptolemy

Copernican was on the right track but still was far off. The sun was not the center of the universe but the center of the solar system and the planets did not all epicycles at the same speed.

When Galilei saw Jupiters four big moons this proved that not everything orbited the earth. With Venus, he noticed it went through phases like the moon making it look bigger at times which made no sense if it was a Geocentric Solar System.

With all these people one big flaw they all had was that not the sun nor the earth were the center of the universe but the sun was the center of the solar system.
