  •  PYP framework puts students’ learning at the center. Students agency is fostered through the motif of learner, learning and teaching, and the learning community. 
  • PS&P is revised to align better with PYP Principles to Practice. 
  • New workshop planner is supported with more resources, which ensures the consistency of delivery.
  • Reduced conceptual understandings of workshop allow time for the WSL and participants to dig deeper. Connection to teachers’ capabilities and model of good practice will equip the participants with understanding and teaching strategies. 
  • Participants have a choice of which success criteria to focus on. 
  • Reflection thread and collaboration culture are built into the new workshops, which allows participants to connect learning to their own context and support fellow participants’ inquiry.

  • I am working with some candidate schools and also scheduled to lead a couple of workshops in transition period. I am wondering how much enhancement I should share, especially with CAT 1 and CAT 3 workshops. 
  • Reread the PYP Principle to Practice, PS&P, new workshop planners. 
  • Reread the posts at this Upskilling workshop. There are lots of practical suggestions and valuable feedback. I need to organize the responses for future reference.

  • I wonder if there will be more supporting materials published by IB to support participants in other languages, such as in Chinese. (help from: IB communication, IBEN network, WRC)
  • CAT 3 workshops: as IB does not provide a new planner, I wonder how to use design thinking approach to revise the structure and create “persona” to fit into the local context. (help from IBEN network)

  • Re-read to understand the “PYP Principles to Practice' and 'PS&P' better in order to ensure that I use it effectively in my role as a teacher, HOD, WSL, consultant and school visitor to support my students, colleagues and other IB educators/schools.
  • Attend future upskilling workshop when they become available.

I was able to explore the change in the PYP framework , make connection to the revised PS&P and review the redesign of PYP workshops in order to model the best practice and build teachers’ capabilities.
