For me, kindness means giving genuine compassion from your heart to someone or something. 
2. I thought it was profound for Naomi Shihab Nye to write about how when you’ve suffered, kindness is able to help you through that time. Because something negative such as greed or envy would only make your situation worse (along with negatively affecting others around you). The positive feeling from kindness would lift up spirits. 
3. 2) I thought the poem was really well written with comparing emotions of sorrow and happiness together. It had a good meaning and I think more people should look up to it for guidance.
