A Journey: How is film stored?

Here as a group unraveled the mystery of film preservation and understand how we in fact store our film locally. It was a museum of memories. Which lead onto this particular conversation.

How do certain ways of preservation affect the history of Manchester? Does the correct preservation really secure memories though film works? Or is that within the object itself?

Is to keep the history of Manchester safe from becoming destroyed overtime better than it deteriorating over time and becoming expired as it would normally do?

Really happy with how my images turned out. I was nervous when it came to shooting film in a studio environment because I can’t ‘check’ how the lighting is etc etc. However I am pleased and pleasantly surprised with how they turned out- keeping a steady lighting throughout was the best approach as I wouldn’t want to change things half way through. Will add my favourite selections after this.

The first ever photograph

Nicéphore Niépce captured the first ever fixed image by channeling light through a camera obscura into a pewter block coated with bitumen. I have referenced this photograph because although it doesn’t relate to Manchester, it relates heavily amongst the historical connotations towards my own work when exploring the history of the camera and photographs.

Ocean Dweller

He was a young lad that came from a less fortunate home and one of his biggest interests since he as a boy was exploring the vast ocean. When he got older he was able to secure a job as a crew member of a ship and when he found out about a new regime that was happening involving a peaches of new equipment that was able to allow you to travel underwater he volunteered to test this machinery asap. He hen goes on to be one of the lost well known underwater marine explorers Manchester have ever known.

Woman of Opulence

She was a lady of high class and taste and Due to her high stature was able to board the first ever Manchester to Liverpool Railway. Her dressing is often similar but elegant but looks a bit higher and you will always spot her often extravagant hats over many different colours and shapes.

The Humble Alchemist

Being considered a child genius in her school she also went on to be the youngest PhD holder in Manchester history. While most people would let the popularity and respect get to their head this atomic scientist remains humble while also going on to having more achievements such as taking part in the success of discovering atomic theory. While working on these experiments she was involved in an accident involving an atomic division chamber which later gave her the ability to manipulate any object's atomic structure. After the accident she surprisingly went on in her career as normal and even started to make use of her new found abilities in her experiments.
