         <description><![CDATA[<div>-McKinley Burnett head of the NAACP’s Topeka chapter attempted to persuade Topeka to fully integrate the schools. <br>-Mr. Brown a minister and his wife who was a teacher, were respected members of their community. Fought for integrated schools because their daughter had a longer commute to a black school than the white school. <br>-Linda Brown was the daughter of Mr. Brown and his wife. A third grader had to walk across town to attend an all black school. Her father was upset about this because there was a white school just a few blocks away.<br>-Thurgood Marshall first African-American to serve on supreme court. He was appointed chief counsel of the NAACP. Argued in many civil rights cases, including the Brown v. Board of Education case.<br>- Dwight D. Eisenhower sent military troops to Little Rock to escort students into the high school, after the governor refused to integrate the schools.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1941-  Kansas supreme court decided segregated Junior high schools were unequal, in Topeka Kansas. This resulted in the schools being integrated.<br><br>1948- The NAACP board of directors is counseled by Thurgood Marshall on how to fight segregation.<br><br>1952-  School segregation from South Carolina, Virginia, Delaware, Kansas,  and the District of Columbia.<br><br>1954- The Supreme Court unanimously ruled that Brown would overturn Plessy v. Ferguson, this declared that racial segregation in public    schools is unconstitutional  <br>1955- State legislatures refused to enforce the Brown decision, they tried to implement laws against the decision. The supreme Court then issued a second ruling in the case, Brown two. The second case orders that desegregation must proceed "with all deliberate speed".</div>]]></description>
