Arthropods are animals with tough exoskeletons, or outer shells made to protect their internal organs. Arthropods shed their exoskeleton and grow new ones as they develop and grow. Arthropods' bodies are segmented, meaning its divided into sections, they also have jointed legs. The three largest groups of arthropods are crustaceans, insects and arachnids. Crustaceans live on salt water or land. There are 50,000 species of crustaceans, and examples are crabs and shrimp. Insects are the largest group of arthropods, with over a million species! They are made of a head, thorax and abdomen. Three pairs of legs are attached to its thorax. They have antennae and eyes to help it sense and live in its environment. Examples include grasshoppers and ants. Arachnids include spiders and ticks. They have appendages, 4 pairs to be exact. And they are divided into one or two body sections, depending on the species of arachnid. All arachnids are able to produce strong silk fiber, that's what spiders use to catch prey.
Fun facts about arthropods:
1. Ancestral arthropods were the first animals to ever live on land!
2. The oldest species of arthropods are Pneumodesmus newmani, a species of millipede.
3. All arthropods go through metamorphosis.
4. Infected mosquitos are the most common type of arthropods that spread disease, disgusting!
Picture of arthropods:

Sponges have unspecialized cells that can transform into other types and that often migrate between the main cell layers and the mesohyl in the process. Sponges do not have nervous, digestive or circulatory systems. Instead, most rely on maintaining a constant water flow through their bodies to obtain food and oxygen and to remove wastes. Sponges were first to branch off the evolutionary tree from the common ancestor of all animals, making them the sister group of all other animals. Sponges belong to a phylum called Porifera. They come in many different colors. Sponges attach themselves to the ocean floor and filter small food particles from the water.

Fun Facts :

1. Early fossil records show that sponges inhabited Earth around 600 million years ago. That is a mighty long time for an animal without a complex nervous, digestive, or circulatory system!

2. Some deep-water sponges can live to be over 200 years old.

3. Sponges are master filters.

Some pictures of sponges
