Why should there be awareness and action for the social issue/problem? (relevance)

Everyone should be aware of social issues because only we can help each other to make our society a better place for all. Raising awareness on what is happening in our society can help those people be uplifted from the bottom, because we can make a better place to live if we will help each other.

What is the government doing about it?

The Government is now implementing the Republic Act 7356. An Act creating the national commission for culture and arts, establishing a national endowment fund for culture and the arts, and for other purposes. The aforementioned Republic Act can assist those who are struggling to sell their handmade crafts to others because it can help the economy and tourism to be promoted, particularly here in Mindanao, which has a lot to offer but people in the handcrafting community are struggling to promote their product due to the competitive economy.

What can we (ordinary citizens) do about it?

As citizens, we can support our local handicrafts by promoting them on social media, because social media is extremely popular in this new generation, and many people have already shifted to online platforms, such as posting to pique people's interest in buying handicrafts and other items that are always sold. Social media makes people aware of what is going on in our economy, and thus it can help those who are struggling, especially during this time of the pandemic, and the economy's way has changed. Also, The Non-Timber Forest Products Exchange Program Philippines (NTFP-EP Philippines). It initiated CMCC as a collaborative network of non-government and community-based organizations. CMCC advocates for safe environmental practices, research, and sets top quality standards for the production of products such as honey, textiles, and natural dyes.

The pandemic affected our chosen social problem locally by making it tough for local businesses, local projects, local developments, local stores, local restaurants, and such to a halt. For example, active businesses near their main consumers or target audiences forced them to close down.

Globally?

The pandemic affected our chosen social problem globally by the reduced the measure of jobs that caused unemployment rates to increase, the same in the Philippines. They struggled with the new changes as they not only dealt with an economic decrease but also with the citizens and the country's well-being.

The Various Crafts of the Locals

Mindanao is highly known for its wide array of natural resources, thus making it a great source of local businesses. Even now, businesses such as Arts and Crafts are big due to the locals' access to Mindanao's resources.

Mindanao's Biggest Problem?

Even while Mindanao is rich in its own rights, it is still suffering from severe poverty because of lack of any economical decelopment and help from the National Government. This leads to many conflicts ranging from culture to armed conflicts, which affects not only the Economy, but the people trying to preserve said Economy. Those that are especially harmed are the locals which are counted as Minorities, which don't get as much help as they need in order to maintain their livelihood.

The Lack of Support for the Locals

It is not a surprise that the Poor gets poorer while the Rich gets richer. But why? The main reasoning for this is the vast neglect of local businesses, globally and locally. The Locals are only getting support from their own hardwork and only occasionally get outside help, but it is rare when compared to the help other bigger industries has. Why they don't support the Locals can be stem back to many reasons such as culture, religion or race, but whatever the reason may be, it does affect the Local Businesses here in Mindanao as it continues to be neglected not just by the goverment, by the vast majority of people.
