Collège Champittet Reveal STEAM MIT Challenge by Ed Tech

The Theme this year was An Image of Water. There were three challenges, 1) Extreme Exposure 2) A Different Lens 3) A Picture of Health. Post your team's best pictures and descriptions, with a title and the particular challenge you created for.

The wallpaper of this Padlet was created by Lily Deno in Year 7, who kindly allowed us to use it.

Challenge # 2: A Different Lens

We are the Green Teens (Victoria, Lucia, Zoe and Matthieu) and we wanted to explore density through colour.

Our different lens was "colour".

We wanted to create different layers of colour. So we had to experiment with different liquid densities and add colour to each layer to obtain this rainbow effect.

The bottom layer we used was maple syrup which was our most dense substance. Then we used vegetable oil, baby shampoo, dish soap, vinegar and water on top of that. the different densities allowed the substances to blend into each other.

We were rather happy with the effect.

https://sites.google.com/view/greenteensrobot

I just used an iPAD to take this photo for the Exrtreme Environments Challenge. I had to be very still. I like this picture because you can see all the patterns on the butterfly, even a stripey antennae. You can also see the hair on its body. It was lunchtime and a very sunny day, and I made sure that I didn't make a shadow so the light is very strong on this butterfly and we can see all the detail.
