Then there eis Christopher. He lived in the real world in somewhere in the 21st century. The weird thing about him is that animals follow him everywhere he goes. Foxes, crows, skunks, Cats , anything ; even mythical creatures.

Finally the best character in my opinion is Gelflein. He is the little creature right next to Christopher. He is a griffin, the last one of his kind actually but he is also Mal's best companion and the thing that kept her going even after her aunt was killed.

The first of this group is Fidens Night hand. He is part of an almost extinct tribe called the berserkers , and their job was to protect the immortal. It is said that a true berserker never feels fear.

The next character you meet is actually not even a person. Her name is rattwin. She is a species of animal called a rattoska . They are large versions of squirrels with green fur and a short horn atop their head. rattoskas like to spread news and talk to humans to do so but she uses her talking ability to map the oceans and explore.

The last one of these characters is Iran. She is a simple girl that lives in the glimourie but you can normally find her inside of a library researching on sea animals. A thing that you couldn't notice until she jumps in the water is that she is part nerid . A nereid is like a mermaid but with no tails. Their fingertips and their hair is silver . They have tons of knowledge on the ocean and are said to have beautiful voices. Iran was also able to notice that the creatures were getting worse and she joined Night hand, Mal, christopher, and Rattwin .

This quote is important to the story line by really explaining why Mal did what she did , not just because she was that kind of person that would save people , but because she realized that it had to be done in order to save not just the Glimourie but the entire world.

This quote really helps the story line by making the reader feel the sort of desperateness Mal was feeling after her best companion was murdered. It shows how important Gelflein was to her.
