Lab lasses are generally overstaffed due to student attendance but if there was at least 50% attendance then it would be a fair ratio. However, if there was 100% attendance then classes could be crowded with both staff and students. To prevent this from happening academics could possibly do smaller classes and see an improved attendance rate.

Example:

Within the large physiology classes in the Institute of Sport (approximately 100 students) there is very poor attendance and usually results in 4 staff members to 20 students.

• 20 to 1 Ratio.

• With 3/4 staff members no need for a permanent technician to be in the room.

• Providing floating support.

• Reinforce the fact of room limits, if breaching discuss possibilities of students going through material in the seminar room?

Staff to student ratio shouldn't be a 1 size fits all, should be module dependent.
