Keith argues both for and against Geoengineering as not a reason to abandon efforts to cut carbon emissions. (2007)

Kline offers caution about making decisions based on money and suggests that we strive to be ethical, considering the side effects of the "BP oil spill."

My stance is that we need to fund programs to expand our understanding and research of geoengineering. Risk vs rewards or longer-term benefits.

How are you discussing the topic of geoengineered technology with your friends and family?

I gained a broader understanding of the need for environmental justice and, specifically, how marginalized communities are often the most vulnerable to land and water changes. Specifically, my issue is awareness of wildfires and how deeply these challenges are rooted in colonial changes throughout history. Reigniting traditional methods should be a priority, especially in vulnerable areas where fires occur more frequently.

A potential topic of discussion I am curious about is how to approach climate-related denial within our communities, and/or how to have these informed conversations with people who are traumatized by climate-related or political stressors, such as the presence of ICE in many marginalized communities. How are these issues related?

Humans may not have evolved the social mechanisms to have global discussions about issues as complex as these. We are more used to small group issues, with in groups and outgroups. Furthermore, those that are comfortable with the status quo can do much to eliminate progress to maintain current profits. With this being understood, geo-engineering may be one of the only realistic ways that humans can stop climate change-- we tend to be too greedy and too short-sighted for broad compromise.
