Clémentine COUTURIER

Hello everybody ! Today, I'm going to talk about New York, its history, its boroughs and its famous monuments and streets

HISTORY
At the beginning, New Amsterdam was Dutch. It's the English colony who conquered the area and renamed it New York. The Dutch colony became an English colony. It was in 1664

ALL ABOUT NEW YORK
The headquarters of UNO are in NY. There are many companies ! 800 000 ! And over 8 million inhabitants who live there. New York is the capital of the world, the "Big apple". There are 160 languages and 170 nations ! Washington DC is the capital of USA. NY is divided in 5 boroughs : Bronx (north of NY), the poorest borough (hip-hop culture). Queens (in the west-north of NY), it's a residential and industrial borough. Staten Island (in the south of NY), it's a residential and quitest borough. Brooklyn (in the center of NY), it's a residential borough too. And Manhattan ! The richest borough of NY, it's mainly financial. There are many famous streets. Like the 5th Avenue (ESB), Chinatown, Little Italy, Broadway, Wall street, Times Square (screens). It's the most expensive, and the largest city of NY.
Michael Bloomberg used to be the mayor of NY between 2002 and 2013. Now it's Bill de Blasio. He was elected the 5th November 2013
There are two famous bridges : The Brooklyn bridge which links Manhattan to Brooklyn. And Verrazano bridge which links Brooklyn to Staten Island. There are two famous airports : Laguadia and JFK international airport. Queens is close to the two airports.

Let's talk about the Statue of Liberty ! It's located on the Liberty Island, between Manhattan and Staten Island.

THE HISTORY OF THE STATUE
It was given by France, by Gustave Eiffel (the architect) on the 28th October 1886

FINALLY
I would like to say, New York is the trip to do in your life, it's just amazing and wonderful.

Flavie LABOUREAU

Hi ! Have you ever been to New York ?
New York is the biggest city of the United States of America !
Eight millions inhabitants live in NYC.
This city is located in the East of the US. It's composed of five boroughs : The Bronx the poor borough, Brooklyn, Manhattan the richest borough, Queen and Saten Island.
When you speak about new York you have to introduce some history.
New York's previous name was New Amsterdam. It was the capital of U.S.A from 1785 (seventeen hundred eighty-five) to 1790 (seventeen ninety).
One hundred seventeen skycrapers have been built in New York City.

It's funny because it's as if you were travelling all around the world.
One hundred and sixty languages are spoken.
You can see Chinatown where many people play typical chinese games, you can buy clothes or eat specialities. I recommend a drink at the Boba Tea ! Yummy !
You're crazy about pizza, pasta or ice cream ? You have to visit Little Italy !
You can walk until the little Korea, Coney too and many foreign streets.

Moreover, I will introduce some monuments.
First the Statue of Liberty, one of the best ! It's high nearly ninety metres.
You can visit the crown or just see it by boat. It was found in September 1875. It's stands on an Island on the south of Manhattan. The Statue of Liberty was given to the American by France to symbolize the peace.

Secondly, If you travel to NYC go to the Brooklyn Bridge and take selfies like everybody.
The Brooklyn Bridge links Brooklyn to Manhattan borough. It cross the Easter River and it longs of 1825 metres.

Then, you're tired and you ant to relax ? You can sleep on the United Square or Briant park. You tan, sleep or work why not ? There is a huge garden, a little market where you can buy some fruits !
There is a dog park. So if your dog is bored it plays with another.

Finnaly, if you don't have thee time to walk across the whole. Rend you to the Top of Rock it's a just georgious and marvellous observatory !
You see the city and its several monuments, the Empire State Building or the Guggenheim Museum...

To conclude, New York is a mad city where you can do manythings !
Sadly, I can't speak about everything... :(
I've never been to New York City. One day, i hope i will go there !
New York is waiting for you so take the first plane and live your American dream !!! ^-^

Juliette Pouponnot

-I'm going to write a summary about New York. The nickname of New York is "Big apple". The history of the town started in 1664 when english people conquered New Amsterdam which became New York. Nowadays, there are 8 millions of inhabitants in the city.
-First, let's talk about the Bronx, wich is one of the five boroughs of New York (the others are Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island). Jonas Bronck gave his name to the borough. The Bronx is in the north of New York. This bourough is poor and it is also the most dangerous for his hip hop culture. Mostly Spanish and Black people live this borought.
-Secondly, let's talk about the Statue of Liberty, or "Liberty Enlightening The World". It's one of the most famous monuments of the USA. It is on Liberty Island. It is one of the symbols of the USA because it represents Liberty. For millions of immigrants, it was their first vision of the USA.
-Finally, let's talk about Broadway, it's a famous street. It's the oldest north-south street of the town. In another language, Broadway means "Brede Weg" = "large avenue". It is 15 miles. It was a history place for parades, to celebrate victory. The first parade was in 1886 for the inauguration of the Statue of Liberty. In Broadway, there are also shows.
-Personnally, I think New York is a beautiful town, I really want to visit it, I think New York is like a dream. Visiting this town could teach us a lot of culture.
