When the events are presented in a chronological order. It can be in any perspective (first, second, or third-person).

2. NON-LINEAR NARRATIVE
When the events are presented out of order. It is usually applied whenever the author wants to emphasize the emotional mindset of the characters.
E.g.: Memento (2000), The Butterfly Effect (2004)

3. QUEST NARRATIVE
The protagonist is on an intense journey towards a goal. It is overwhelming, full of emotions and obstacles.
E.g.: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)

4. VIEWPOINT NARRATIVE
This type of narrative is designed to express a point of view and/or a subjective experience. Every event is projected by the narrator's perspective, that could go around a number of main characters.

2- Cliffhanger: a scene or an episode ends abruptly at a moment of heightened tension or suspense, leaving the audience in suspense and eager to know what happens next

3- Death trap: involves placing characters in a dangerous situation from which escape seems nearly impossible, usually resulting in their death. 

4- Deus ex-machina: is a device where an unexpected, often improbable, solution or event is introduced to resolve a seemingly unsolvable problem or conflict in a plot. 

5- Flashback: it is when in the middle of a story something from the past appears again so we (the audience) can see it

6- Foreshadowing: it is when while the story is going on the autor gives subtle hints to the readers of were the story is going

7- In Media Res: it is when the story begins in the middle of the plot, catching the readers attention.

8- Race against time: it is when the plot creates a time urgency for the characters, as it has something they have to do to stop something from happening for example.

9. Red Herring: this device is applied in order to misdirect the reader.
