American conductor, composer, and pianist noted for his accomplishments in both classical and popular music. He has a flamboyant conducting style which was especially popular in concerts for young people.
His first rose suspicion within the FBI in 1949, when his name was brought up that he was "affiliated" with numerous Communist Groups. In 1951 his name also showed up on the Security Index, indicating that he was in relation to or with the Soviet Union. In 1968 he threw a fund-raising party for a Black Panther people who were associated with high amounts of criminal activity during that time.

Famous comedian known as the "The Tramp" (which was his acting name), relied on quirky movements that made him an iconic figure of the silent-film era. Chaplin became a director, making films such as 
City Lights and Modern Times. He also co-founded the United Artists Corporation.

Chaplin’s history of celebrating himself, paired with his pattern of sexual impropriety and misshandlement of past relationships, all put him on the wrong side of the line. Yes, he had foreign citizenship, but many interpreted that, especially in the government, as a direct tie to Communist idealists overseas. In fact, they still to this day haven't found any liable proof that he was working with far-left officials, but his social entanglement along with messed up affairs and capitalistic ideals put him on Hollywoods Blacklist.

Robeson often traveled to the U.S.S.R during the mid-1930s and because of his political beliefs he was blacklisted. Even though Robeson often spoke out against the Stalin regime, the government wanted to silence his voice, and misrepresented a speech he gave during the Paris Peace Conference in the late 1940s. This resulted in him being blacklisted.
