As we know that the preservation of craft legacies is very important because the craftsmen have skills of their specific crafts from many decades and they were working on it constantly, on the other hand if we see our generation are more dealing with technologies like 3D printing and CAD which are less time consuming. The CAD and rapid prototyping saving more time and money at the same time but in craft market, the craftsmen facing problem in financially and struggling over materials. As a designer we have a systematic way of design process through which we follow different stages in which research and ideation are very important parts it helps us in making a product precise in measurement, functional as in form or structure or aesthetically appealing and a designer can explore a different materials to give uniqueness in texture, colours or visually tactile whereas craftsperson deals with different products in their specific craft to make their design better or unique by using one or two materials which is available near to them or as lies in their budgets.
Designers started collaborating with artisans to work or learn their craft to make their design to give a new look through craft. for example, block printing is a very famous craft which is mostly used in indian market or designers also to print different types of motifs and embroidery by using different wood carved blocks so this helps to designer to grow their market or business more as comparison to craftsmen who have a proper skilled and knowledge about the craft but the perception of buying the same thing from a craftsmen or to showroom is different value.
the other point, approach of craft product development in both craft and design, in terms of design the process is very clear and in a sequence manner but on the other hand craftsmen use to more practical they follow different process in which the research part and ideation was not much properly inserted. as we talk about the economic structure of craft is in current situation the handicraft items are easily manufactured or produced but the few industries producing these items at very low cost or same product through which design is changing the perception of society that they can easily get these handicraft items at online shopping or in different shops nearby to their home it can be also a part of technology which is used by today's generation designers.
