I like swimming, hiking and traditional dances, while when I find time I like to travel and get to know new places. I believe that with this program we will discover new treasures not only of our place but also of our partners

In my classroom there are many desks and chairs. A large table is in front of us. There is also a large library. We have many paintings and posters that we have made ourselves.

 Our classroom is square, very large, warm, bright and beautiful. On the walls there are pasted posters, paintings and collages.  On the left there are large windows to let in the sunlight.

My name is Samaras Yiannis and I am the director of the 1st Primary School of Nea Ionia, Volos. I want to participate in workshops where cooperation is developed. I like to work in a team, I am organized and I like to find creative solutions to the issues that arise.

I like to evolve and challenge myself to constantly learn new things. I am organized, consistent and focus on detail.

I am Gergana from Bulgaria. I am a primary teacher in our 105 School Atanas Dalchev in the capital city Sofia. I love to learn, travel and participate in different projects and beginnings. Also, I am a scout. I like the adventures and growing together with small children. I think that every time I come back with new knowledges.

We have more than 1400 students and about 110 teacher.

Students in our school are in primary /1-4 grade/, pre-secondary /5-7 grade/ and secondary school /8-12 grade/. They learn English, Italian, Art, IT and Maths extensively. Students in Secondary school learn intensively Italian, Software and Hardware or Tourism and Tour guide service.

Sofia was an ancient city, founded by the Thracians. There are many cultural, archeologicals and historical paces.

Our traditions are various and interesting, some of them reserved from the Ancient.

As a Classroom Teacher in Düzce, Turkey, I am participating with 1st graders. My hobbies are listening to music, watching movies, exploring new places and preparing activities for my class. I am very excited about this project.

Refugees uprooted from Smyrna and the rest of Asia Minor in 1922 with the Asia Minor Catastrophe were the first inhabitants of the area.[2] At first it was a district of Volos and was called "Refugee Settlement" or simply "settlement". The final name "Nea Ionia" was given to the area in 1947, in memory of the lost homeland - the Greek Ionia - and its transformation into a municipality and a separate city.

Historical data

The history of the place is directly linked to the Asia Minor Catastrophe, the burning of Smyrna and the uprooting of 1,500,000 Greeks of Asia Minor in August 1922 from their thriving ancestral homes.

        Their official foundation was in September 1925, as the relevant decree states.

        But our city is constantly growing. In 1929, the construction of the existing magnificent school building began on land donated by the then Municipality of Pagasa. The building was put into use in the school year 1932-1933. The year 1929 we have a new name for all the schools, but also a new composition. All elementary schools became co-educational.

From 1952 to 1957, also, in our school it operated in the evening hours as a night school for child protection and the 2^nd Gumnasium of Arenas of Volos.

Our school during the period 1941-1944 (Occupation) was used by the Italians as a hospital.      Our school from 1932-1933 until the year 1999 operated in two shifts and was attached to the 7th Primary School. But in 1999 we moved the new classroom of the 8th Primary School into the same yard and so the two schools operated only in the morning.   In the year 2000, by decision of the Ministry of National Education and Religious Affairs, the name of our school was changed from 8th Primary School of Volos to 2nd Primary School of Nea Ionia.

Our school today is multicultural and inclusive,  10/classroom and there are 4 sections of full day school.. The number of pupils is 167, of which 89 are boys and 78 girls. There are 89 pupils in the full-day classes.

Its climate is temperate Mediterranean, with more than 250 days of sunshine per year. It has a coastline on the eastern Mediterranean and is bordered to the east by the Aegean Sea, to the west by the Ionian Sea and to the south by the Libyan Sea. It is a particularly mountainous country and has a large number of islands amounting to 2,500.

Greece has a rich historical heritage, which is reflected in the 19 UNESCO World Heritage Sites located on its territory. Through out its history, Greece has interacted culturally mainly with peoples of the Middle East and Europe. The ancient Greek civilisation is the cornerstone of Western civilisation.

My name is Maria and i am the Music teacher of 10th Primary School of Volos. I love to see happiness on children faces when they succeed to play a melody on an instrument. I 'm very excited to participate in this project. I 'm looking forward to discover new treasures from my city and other places and create unique experiences.
