Preparing for assessment: the practical skills

If you are providing direct breastfeeding support, you will be expected to demonstrate positioning and attachment, and hand expression, with a doll and breast model. You will be expected to discuss different positions the parent can use such as laidback, underarm, cross cradle etc. Please ensure your demonstration is in a hands-off approach.

Preparing for assessment: responsive, paced bottle feeding

If you are providing direct feeding support, you will be expected to demonstrate responsive, paced bottle feeding. Remember to talk about eye contact, holding baby close and limiting the number of people feeding the baby.

You must not bring any resources into the interview room with you and there will be a doll and breast model ready for you to demonstrate your skills.
