Validate

As soon as someone says OHRC you are calling the superintendent and you must consult and follow procedure. You may be directing the parent to the form or consulting with superintendent

Teacher also needs consultation. Direct teacher to connect with union rep

Getting insight from parent for what their goal would be for their child and make sure parent and teacher goals align. Also making sure IEP aligns with student and parent goals. 

What is desired outcome?

Make sure you keep the parent informed of the investigation. Indicate when you will get back to them. Then investigate.
Neutral and objective. Unbiased data collection.

You are the buffer. You are going to diffuse the situation and be the person in between.
