The problem is that the Chinese people didn't have enough knowledge of the Canadian Maple Syrup. At China or my home country, people use honey more than Maple Syrup because bee is easier to have honey than Maple Tree having Maple Syrup. So it's cheaper so then the Maple Syrup Markets have a bad time in China.

From my primary research that I did by surveying my neighbor, I found out that 9 out of 10 people don't know what is Maple Syrup. Maple syrup is better than honey and sugar because honey is produced by bee and there is some unknown sterol substance in it that might be harmful to people that are sick. Another reason is that the minerals Maple syrup have, for example, calcium, have 40 times the amount that honey have. The last thing is that maple syrup has the less calorie than honey, so it would be better for people now (https://zhidao.baidu.com/question/428885109.html).

Design Goal
To design a chair by drawing on our sketch book. To make a chair, I will need to make wood joint together in a stable way. In my Secondary Research, the internet suggest 8 ways to connect them. The first suggestion is to use Doweled Butt Joint. Also my research told me that the four leg chair is more stable because the force pushed down by gravity on each leg is divided evenly. So the four legged chair has less pressure on each leg. A round shaped seat will be too hard and not comfortable to sit on so I will not use a round shaped seat.
Target Market
The chair product will be designed with China citizens in mind so I might put a little China's flag on it representing it is made in China. My research (survey) told me that in 20 people 16 people don't know what is a maple syrup. When creating the product I will need to put a SSIS logo on it because it was made in SSIS. Also I need to consider what famous logo of Maple Syrup should I put. I have ideas like putting a maple leaf of the back of the seat or putting maple leaf on the front side in a slope.
Major Constraints
The difficult might be connecting three piece of wood in an angle because I'm creating the back. Also I will need to consider how stable the chair will be if I craft it in a particular shape. The materials available and I need are wood, screws and paint. The problem I face told by the research is the joints, they can be extremely hard to make because of the limitation of my hand to cut wood into particular shape.
Success Criteria
The product shows success when people pay attention to it and ask why the chair it like that or what does it relate to? My primary research told me that the target must be comfortable to sit on it to be a successful product. My secondary research told me that it must be safer (stable) than other chair to be a success product.

In my research of A2, it stated that a four leg chair is more stable than a three leg chair because the weight is more evenly distributed. So I didn't use the third design. Also my one of my primary research stated that the most suitable chair for Chinese people always have an arm rest so that leads me to only one design left. In my A3 research, I found out that steel is the most stable joint to connect two piece of wood together unless the wood is too fragile. This design will mostly use metal screws and joints to connect two piece of wood together, but some of the connection must be glue because you don't want to sit on a chair with screws pointing out on the seat. It wouldn't meet two of my specification which is shape (Syrup jug) and joint (Wood with high skills). It would be too easy to break if all the joints are made from high skill wood. This chair the hard point is the joints but the other parts are very easy because most of it is made from either plank of maple wood or stick from maple wood.

A chair sold to a customer should be designed to be able to look at it without the customer saying the design is ugly. So a good looking chair is important. But since we are not a prefect wood worker, the expectations are not high. The look will be about if it's balanced or not.

Evidence
Lok Ching: I think the chair has a nice design, it looks nice, but I can't sit on it
Lucas: I like the chair, the back and the hand thingy look good
Tony: It doesn't have a leg, but it looks good
Harold: The chair is made good because the chair connections are very hard.

The improvement on my chair would be that I need to make the chair sit-able by making the chair 50cm x 50cm on the base and by making the chair taller by adding 4 to 5 leg of 20 cm. I wouldn't change the plan from C4 or B1, but I need to change my mind. I need to learn not to be easily persuaded by other people's opinion. My plan would have work if I stick to my plan. But now the chair has a small seat and no G9 students can sit on.

For example the chair is stable on it's 'leg', the chair also is attractive because of how it looks.
The things I didn't achieve are putting China flag to make it a bit more appropriate for Chinese citizens, a four leg chair, logo of maple syrup, stable back, and sit-able. I didn't solve the problem because of the shape of the chair isn't recognizable for my target audiences.
