In the video "Jordan Growth Mindset", Jordan reflects on times where he has come short in his basketball career. Although he highlights the times he has missed scoring baskets for his team and how he failed during his lifetime, he used those failures to push him to be a better person and player. This video exemplifies growth mindset because Jordan does not see his failures as a permanent outcome but as a way to motivate him. Sports are not something that comes easy but something you must work at everyday to be the best.

This video helps me realize that handwork is rewarding and my failures are not something that should hold me back. As a baseball player there are times where you don't play your best and mess up a big play but that should drive you to work even harder to make up for that loss. Keeping a positive mindset and learning not to take every mistake personal is important in order to grow as a person and a player. Constructive criticism can be taken two ways, negative or positive, if you see it as a positive thing you allow others to point something out that you may or may not already know and allow you to focus on an area where you need to improve.

Jordan Growth Mindset, Sisk, Antony Jean.

In the “How NBA Coach Phil Jackson Taught His Teams Mindfulness” video Coach Jackson talks about how himself and the team must build not only physically but mental strength as well. The Coach then used the technique mindfulness to help focus so that they can all be on the same page and it’s especially used in times of need. Coach additionally mentioned that he tried numerous different techniques & things to help his players but unfortunately the players we’re not a fan of it. Luckily Coach had “Mindfulness” in mind and his players willingly agreed to it and we’re cooperative.

This video helped me bring out my inner mindfulness & focus as it is a good technique to have. Therefore I surely relate to using mindfulness because I play a plethora of sports and it may be necessary here and there for me to use it to regain focus and collect myself. In certain instances you might be sad or bummed out by a loss but mindfulness could help you gain that confidence to be yourself again on/off the field. In conclusion this will be very helpful to me in the near future and I hope for it to be effective.

How NBA Coach Phil JACKSON taught his TEAMS Mindfulness ... (2013, June 16).

Watch Before you Give Up

This video "Watch this Before you Give Up" is about how Mr Harvey was so close to giving up on chasing his dream. He was homeless and had been living in his car for the past 3 years. He felt like a failure. It literally took two voice messages and a plan to get him to see the light at the end of the tunnel. He was able to come up with a plan to move and get e better paying job.

I will remember to use his story to help me push though school. Even when gets really really hard its always a way out. This really helped me to understand that even when one plan doesn't work, don't stop planning. No matter how old you are, everything has a process and it may take 3 months or even maybe 3 years but it will happen. In due time, if I just trust the process.

The Outcome. (2019 Mar. 21).

I think that the specific habit of mind from Costa is essential for achieving success because when a person is able to truly listen to another person and is shown empathy, that person is able to feel more comfortable to talk to them. Anybody who actually takes the time to listen and understand someone's else's concerns or issues is a great sign of empathy. I strongly agree that any empathy is the first emotion to have in acts of trust, comfortability, and respect.

Jasha

Its important that I listen with understanding and empathy in the classroom and on the baseball field because it shows the teacher and coach that I care about getting better and learning in order to achieve both academic and athletic success.

Ryan

Listening to someone with empathy and understanding what they are saying is important to being successful. Understanding where someone is coming from and empathizing with what they are trying to stay shows that you care and actually are listening to them.
Nomar

Listening with empathy can help prevent misunderstandings from happening. Listening with empathy will help you put yourself in their shoes & actually feel what they are going through. The three types of empathy are emotional , cognitive , and compassionate & these are all helpful.

Feyi

Group Work

In this video "John Legend: Success Through Effort" Legend speaks on his journey to becoming a famously talented singer. He worked hard in perfecting his craft, and after six years of being told "no you're not good enough," he finally got signed to the same record label that first said no to him. He didn't believe that famous people are there because it is fixed, he continued to grow until he earned his spot at the top as well. Legend closes and admits he still isn't perfect, he's constantly trying to get better and grow day in and day out.

This video gives me hope that I can do anything if I set my mind to it. As a baseball player, I've learned to embrace my failures and face challenges head on. Ever since I have had this mentality I strive to get better at everything not just with baseball, but life. I'm a freshman at college so anyone on the field with me has more experience which is great because I use that to my advantage. I want teammates and coaches to give me constructive criticism because I know I'm far from being a professional. But from the help and support of my family, friends, and teammates each day I will get that much closer.

John Legend: Success through effort. (2014, August 19). [Video].
