Touches the animal's emotional side:
Old Major is the first to describe and rebel against the animal's miserable situation. Further, they work a lot to gain little - a blatant case of injustice.
2. Uses precise/simple language:
"Two legs bad, four legs good." By creating a set of rules, even the sheep are able to learn how to tackle the situation.
3. Predicts a better future:
Animals not only get to know a bad present but also receive motivation from the idea of an equal future after years of hard work.
4. He uses a confident and experienced tone:
For being twenty years old, Old Major makes it clear that he had enough time to elaborate a strategical plan of rebellion.
5. Refers to all animals as equals:
By repeating "comrades" a few times, Old Major involves all present animals in the rebellion. Not to mention, although some are smarter than others, for a moment, they all seem to understand the same.
