He offered me a wooden statue of the Goddess of life, water and fertility that I cherish. 
During our stay, we would watch the sunset on the Bandiagara cliff, and the next day watch the sunrise on Burkina Faso from the same cliff. Second day in Haïti we decided to go to the beach for some much needed sun, sea and fun. Whilst we were there we saw a small island in the ocean. What attracted us the most to it was the greenery and the fact that I have been coming to this beach since I was a child and never went on that small island. We decided to take a speed boat there, the trip was longer than we could have ever imagined. It took us about 1h30 to get there. We of course had beers on the speed boat so it was alright. as we are half way there we meet a few fisherman who offered us to purchase some of their catch which included lobsters, conch, crabs fish for very cheap. As we arrived on the island we meet a small family who lived there. After the formalities we started to swim, made a bonfire to cook our sea food and walked all around the miniature island. The most fascinating part of the island was the fact that there was a light house on it ( the only light house I have ever seen in my life). We were told it was built after revolutionary war too long ago. It was fascinating to see it still standing. as we were getting ready to leave we realised that our boat no longer worked and we had no phone signal. Although we were very worried that we would not be able to go back on main land, we were not scared. The small family offered to bring us back on there small boat but it would have taken longer to get back than to wait until someone realised that we aren't back yet. The best part was that we had plenty of beers and sea food left. We were eating again by the time my fathers friends came to find us. I was the official co-pilot, being the only one who spoke Spanish. The car broke down on the side of the road, which was a "highway" in the Cuban way (two cars per hour, people on horses, bikes and carriages) and the sun was about to set. I had the call the car rental company and yell at them in Spanish, call the insurance and yell at them in Spanish and English before getting a French person whom my mother yelled at in French. After two hours in the heat, a taxi driver saw us and made a U-turn as he was coming from the opposite direction, in the other lane. I explained our situation to him, he helped us see what was wrong with the car (flat tyre) and helped us fix it because we didn't have the adequate tools in the car (hence the yelling at the car company). He then made us follow him to a garage two hours from there in order to make sure everything was good with the car, even though it was nearly night and he was originally going in the other direction. Here the experience started when we met two girls in a Coffeeshop they were from Italy But not from Napoli, we exchanged a bit and they proposed us to make a tour together with a personal driver and all that things, everything was good until we had the idea to go to La Scampia  as we all are fans of Gomorra Serial in Netflix, once we have been there the driver did not wait for us and told us he will comeback once we call him and left, I had a strange feeling in front of those iconic triangle shaped buildings. The habitants was really aware of who is coming to the hood, they came all of a sudden looking who is there what for and all of this, as the two mans of the group we tried to keep calm and don't run and we ask them if it is possible to have tour inside their neighborhood thing that  let us meet Paco he was not smiling at all but you can feel safe with him he took us to a tour and started telling us many stories that happened in there and how life is in La Scampia, and that was an unforgettable experience. I felt like we were Dark Tourists.

I had the chance to meet people from all over the world, to discover their culture and their know-how. And all this was possible by staying in one place. 
I was also able to share my passion, pastry, and learn more from the chefs. But also to learn about the world of work in the USA which is completely different from ours. 
Finally I had the opportunity to travel and discover new landscapes.

From a distance, it looked more like a house, and it was only when a lady waved to us that we got closer. We were all curious to know what this little place looked like. On the way in, a smell of tajine with candied prunes and round tables covered with tablecloths like at home were all over the place
. Bread was already laid on tables with small Moroccan salads. A unique experience. We even shared our table with another couple, and we all ate together. An unforgettable little visit for us and an experience that we would have never imagined to have one day
