In today's modern world people have become more sensitive to more topics. There are many disagreements among people about racism, gender equality, mainly how people see things differently in the world. Vonnegut is making it clear that we can't just keep censoring ideas if it makes someone unhappy or uncomfortable. Many of the ideas that are in his books or others books can relate to the real world. The beginning of the letter starts by explaining the issue that is being addressed and explains what his problem is with books being burned. This acts as a hook for the reader.

2. The middle of the letter he provides details like the fact that he is a former Combat Veteran and discusses how he is not exploiting the burning of his books to make money, instead he explains that he is a hard-worker who wrote those novels to convey values and issues that normal American families face.

3. Ethos- In the story he explains how many books he has written and that they were widely used in schools then any other writer, all of the colleges he has been employed at, and all of the commencement speeches he has made at different colleges and high schools. Vonnegut also reveals that he is a father and veteran that has never been arrested or sued to give McCarthy an idea of who he his as a real person.
Pathos- I think anything in this essay can cause an emotional reaction from the reader.
