Friendship is very important in our lives especially for someone’s mental and emotional health. Besides family, friends are someone who will be there with us through thick and thin together. But there are many things that we need to consider in order to have a high-quality friendship. First thing first, the main thing is honesty. There are a lot of people that can be our mutual but to have an honest friend in our lives is a blessed. If we have a friend that will lie to other people, it is possible for them to lie with us too. So, being honest in a friendship is very dominant for a long-lasting satisfying. Not only that, respect is also one of the powerful qualities for maintaining the friendship. Receiving respect and giving respect can build feeling of trust, safety and wellbeing. We can show respect for our friends by listening to what they have to say and be kind towards them. In addition, if you're talking to a friend who is telling you people's personal business, be respectful and not talk about it behind their back. Last but not least, the other quality that important for maintaining a friendship is that both people put effort towards maintaining the relationship. Staying connected takes work, especially as individuals get older, busier, and less likely to see each other in the setting in which they first met. Hence, social media and forms of electronic communication such as text and email certainly help people stay engaged in each other’s lives.

DO YOU THINK IT’S MORE IMPORTANT TO HAVE LOTS OF FRIENDS OR FEW GOOD FRIENDS?
I truly believe that people come into our lives for a reason. We don’t meet people by accident. We should not regret knowing the people who come into our lives because good people give us happiness and bad people give us experience. But in my point of view, I believe having a few close friends is better. It is because we can’t be close with every single friend that we make. When close friends get together, they speak their own language, a unique dialect made up of private jokes and half-sentences that no one else understands. That is why few good friends is enough because a really good friend knows when to lay everything out there, and when to hold back. What’s the point having a lot of friends but everyone is being toxic to each other? So just be sure whoever we choose to spend our time and energy on is worth it.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF “BLOOD IS THICKER THAN WATER”?
I admit that friends are important in our lives but deep down in everyone’s heart, there must be a special spot for their beloved family. Blood is thicker than water means that blood relations which are family relations and bonds are more important than other kinds of relations. Just like few of our basic requirements to live life, a human being requires several other emotional needs like love, which is essential for mental happiness. Families are important because they give us unlimited love, laughter and a feeling of belonging. No matter where you are roaming the entire day, you always have a home to go back to. In other words, you would never feel lonely in this world. Basically, family is one of those first places where you learn most of the good things in life. From being kind to showing gratitude, to helping others in their bad times or even before you are going to find a good friend. I've found that the friendships when I have many tend to be more superficial and while we might have a good time together and chat, there's a lot of backstabbing and pretending going on.
