It's telling us that even though humans didn't recognize him, he still came to the world for humanity. This is a passage I can refer back to when someone asks how to become a child of God. It can help to share the gospel.

John says he has spoke about Jesus before. I couldn't guarantee eternal life through Jesus Christ if he had not been sent to the world.

Good reflection. Where would we be without Grace? So many take God's grace for granted. They live however they want to live and say "Well God will forgive me." This is misunderstanding God's grace and it is not loving God. Loving God is saying, "God I love you and I'm going to do my best to obey you and live for you. I'm so thankful for your forgiveness when I fail and I don't plan to fail you."

Courtney remember to give me 3 sentences at least per paragraph. We can all learn from John the Baptist. He was more concerned about doing the will of God than he was about people's opinion. People criticized him and said he was strange but John kept obeying God and preaching repentance. Jesus said, "Among those born of women there are none greater than John the Baptist" (Luke 7:28). Wow. How many people lose themselves in the process of trying to be what other people want them to be. With God we can relax and just be who He made us to be.

Even though there was a chance that people would look at him weird, John still spread the word about Jesus and told the people that Jesus was God's Chosen One. This shows that no matter what the circumstances might be, we should always continue to share our faith in the Lord even though we might get ridiculed for it.

Courtney Tyler
August 22-25
John 2:23-25

What: In this passage, Jesus is in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival. Once people were seeing the miracle that Jesus was performing, they were believing in Him. Jesus did not need to know anything about these people because He already knew them.

Life Application: I feel that Jesus is telling us that we do not need to physically see Him or see His miracles to believe in Him. We should have faith in Him. I feel that in this passage, Jesus was sad or maybe upset at the fact that people were only believing in Him because of the physical things they saw and not because they had faith in Him.

John 3:1-12

What: Nicodemus comes to Jesus, proclaiming Him as the "teacher has come from God." He tells Jesus that this is because no one else could perform the miracles like Jesus, if God wasn't with Him. Jesus then replies to Nicodemus telling him that no one can enter Heaven unless they are born again. This confuses him and Jesus then tells him that the spirit has to be reborn, not flesh.

Life Application: I feel that Jesus wants us to live with trust in Him. I feel that we, as sinners, shouldn't question Jesus, even though that is a very tough thing to do sometimes. We should live our lives trusting and having faith in Him.

John 3: 13-18

What: Jesus says that eternal life is only reached through Him. This passage also has the famous John 3:16 in it, saying that God loved us so much that He sent His only Son to die on the cross from our sins so that we will have a chance at eternal life.

Life Application: This is basically the passage that tells humans that there no way to heaven except through Jesus without beating around the bush. It honestly blows my mind that God would send His only Son, knowing what types of pain He was going to endure and the torture he was going to go through.

Courtney Tyler
Aug 29- Sept 1
John 3: 19-21

What: This passage is saying that the Light, being Jesus, came into the world to get rid of darkness but people loved darkness because they are sinners.
People who love sin will continue to be in darkness instead of light because they are scared of their sins being shown. People who live in truth will come into the light and their sins will be seen by God.

Life Application: I feel that this passage can apply greatly to the modern day world. People are so deep into the darkness, in these days, so they turn away from Jesus. People are tempted by relationships, materialistic items, celebrities, and many more. Since the modern items are "cool" people are more likely to turn from Jesus.

John 3: 22-30

What: John the baptist is baptizing on one side of the river and Jesus is baptizing on the other side. John's disciples come to John telling him that the man who John testified about is now baptizing people. John then tells them that Jesus is the Messiah and John is not.

Life Application: I think this passage shows what kind of person John was. Instead of getting angry and pretending like he was greater than Jesus, he was honest with his men and told them that he was lesser than Jesus. Some people nowadays pretend like they know whats best or they know better than Jesus, which is not true. Jesus knows all and He knows everything about us.

John 3: 31-36

What: This passage says that "the one who comes from above is above all" meaning Jesus is above all. Whoever believes in Jesus will have eternal life in Heaven. Whoever does not believe in Him, will not have eternal life with Him.

Life Application: I really like this passage because it straight up says that if we don't believe in Jesus, we will not have eternal life with Him. I think so many people try to find "short cuts" or tries to find ways that they can live their life how they want to and still say they are a Christian, which doesn't show through their actions.

John 4: 1-9

What: Jesus left Judea and went back to Galilee. He went into a town called Sychar, tired from his journey. He sat at a well where a Samaritan woman was getting water. Jesus asked the woman for water was in awe that Jesus asked her for water because Jews did not usually associate with Samaritans.

Life Application: Jesus did not care that the woman was Samaritan. This shows that no matter what someone has done in their life or who they are, Jesus does not exclude anyone. If someone asks for forgiveness, Jesus will forgive.

The Samaritan asks for Jesus' water.

Life Application: Please help me find a life application for this passage. I can't think of how this passage could apply to my life.

John 4: 16-26

What: In this passage, Jesus shows that He knows about the Samaritan woman. He knows that she has had many husbands. Jesus tells her that the Samaritans worship what they do not know and the Jews worship what they do know. Jesus then tells her that He is the Messiah.

Life Application: The fact that Jesus knew about the Samaritan woman with this being His first encounter with her shows that Jesus knows everything about us. I feel that just from that passage we should trust Him because He does know everything and He knows best.

John 4: 27-30

What: Jesus' disciples return to Jesus. The Samaritan woman goes back into the town and tells the people about Jesus, that this could possibly be the Messiah. The people in town then make their way towards Jesus.

Life Application: Just as the Samaritan woman shared her experience with Jesus, we should share our faith in Him. Even though the people in town weren't Christians, they were still interested in Jesus. This could also happen in modern day. Just because someone isn't a Christian doesn't mean we can't share His Word. There could be a possibility that they become interested in Jesus and become a Christian.

John 4: 31-38

What:

Life Application:

Courtney Tyler
September 12-15
John 4: 39-42

What: Because the woman testified about Jesus, many of the Samaritans believed in Him. The Samaritans asked Jesus to stay, so Jesus stayed for two days. Because of Jesus' words, many more became believers.

Life Application: This passages shows that just by testifying about Jesus and spreading His words can lead so many people to Him. Even though it may be scary, we should still be open to sharing the Word of God because it could change someone's life.

John 4: 43-45

What: Jesus left Sychar after two days and went back to Galilee. The Galileans welcomed Him and told Him that they knew all the things He had done because they were at the Passover Festival.

Life Application: Even though Jesus didn't have direct contact with the Galileans, they knew what He had done. That shows how amazing Jesus is, that people from all over knew Him and knew what He was doing.

John 4: 46-54

What: When Jesus was in Cana in Galilee, a royal official came to Jesus begging for help because his son was sick. Jesus told the man to go back, that his son was going to live. When the man went back he found that his son was living and his household believe in Jesus.

Life Application: This passage is just one of many examples of how awesome Jesus is. It is mind blowing to me that Jesus could perform these miracles. To have beat death, not only himself, but to save others from death is incredible.

John 5: 1-9

What: Jesus went to a Jewish festival, which there was a place where many ill people stayed. Jesus saw a paralyzed man. Jesus asked the man if he wanted to be cured. Jesus then told the man to get up and walk. The man got up and he was healed.

Life Application: Just like the little boy, this is one of many examples of the great miracles that Jesus performed. I honestly don't know how this applies to my life, but I do know that when I read these miracles that Jesus performed, I am amazed and in aw

Courtney Tyler
September 19-22
John 5: 9-15

What: The healed man was walking around with his mat and because it was the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders stopped him. The man told them that the man who healed him told him to pick his mat up and walk. The leaders wanted to know who this man who had healed the ill was, but the healed man did not know. He later found Jesus at the temple and realized who He was.

Life Application: I think this passage shows that Jesus was not selfish and He was not quick to brag about the miracles that He did. Because of that, Jesus is definitely not like anyone that I know because everyone, in some way, is selfish. When doing something good, people are quick to brag about it.

John 5: 16-23

What: The Jewish leaders tried to kill Jesus because not only was He was breaking the Sabbath, but He starts to compare Himself to God, which angered the Jewish leaders. Jesus then goes on to say that the Son can do nothing by himself, but with the help of the Father.

Life Application: Like John 5:1-9, Jesus does not brag. He does not take all the credit for the works that He does. He lifts the glory up to the Lord. Which is just another thing that makes him incredible.

John 5: 24-29

What: Jesus tell the Jewish leaders that anyone who believes will have eternal life. He also tells them that whoever does not believe in His words will be condemned.

Life Application: I feel that this passage should make everyone want to believe in Him. Words wouldn't even be able to explain how amazing it would be to spend eternal life with the Father and the Son.

John 5: 30-40

What:

Life Application:

Courtney Tyler
September 26-29
John 5: 41-47

What: Jesus talks about how humans try to win praise from others, but do not want to win the praise from God. He talks about how even when Moses tells them about Jesus, they didn't believe him, so why would they believe Jesus?

Life Application: From reading these passage, honestly, I can tell that humans have to change a lot from this passage. People nowadays crave the attention from each other. They buy materialistic items to try and impress others, but do not crave the attention the need from God.

John 6: 1-7

What: Jesus is sitting on a mountain side with his disciples. He looks over and sees a big crowd coming towards him. Jesus asks Philip where they were going to get the food for that many people. Jesus asked Philip this just to test him.

Life Application: By Jesus asking Philip where the food was going to come from, Jesus was testing Philip's faith. Jesus does this a lot in life. He puts tough situations into our lives to see if we will still trust Him and have faith in Him.

John 6: 8-15

What: A boy is presented to Jesus with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish. Jesus told the disciples to have the crowd sit down in a grassy area. Jesus passes out the bread and fish to every person in the crowd. The crowd begins to believe He is the Prophet sent to the world.

Life Application: I've said this before and I will say it again, this is just one of many miracles that Jesus performs that blows me away. It blows my mind that Jesus can feed 5000 people with such little food. This passages shows that we should have faith in Him, through the good and the bad times.

John 6: 16-21

What: The disciples are out on a boat. Jesus approaches the boat. The disciples are scared at first, but realize it is Jesus. The reach shore just after Jesus gets into the boat.

Life Application: This passage shows that Jesus will be with us even through the bad times. He won't leave us stranded to deal with our struggles on our own. Just as the disciples were struggling on the boat, and Jesus was with them, Jesus will be with us.

Courtney Tyler
October 10-13
John 6: 22-27

What: The crowd gets up after eating and resting and Jesus is not around. They find him on the other side of the lake. Jesus then tells them that the crowd is only looking for Him because they are full. He then tells them that they need to not work for temporary food, but work for food that endures to eternal life, meaning they need to have faith and believe.

Life Application: This passage relates to modern day because people are searching for the wrong nourishment to their bodies. People nowadays believe that worldly actions and thoughts are good because most people are living a life for themselves when they should be living their lives for Jesus Christ.

John 6: 28-40

What: Jesus explains to the crowd that He is the bread of life and that whoever comes to Him will never be hungry and whoever believes in Him will never be thirsty. He tells the crowd that He has been sent by the Father to do the Father's will on earth.

Life Application: I believe everyone should read this passage carefully. This passage really stuck to me because it is saying what He has been sent to the earth to do and that is fulfill the Lord's will.

John 6: 41-51

What: The crowd grumbles with what Jesus is saying. Jesus explains to them further that He has come from the Father. He says that He is the living bread from the Father.

Life Application: I believe this passage shows a lot about what kind of person Jesus was and what kind of personality He had. Personally, if I explained something to a huge crowd and they began to grumble and gripe about it, I would be quite annoyed, yet Jesus was not. He stayed humble and calm with the crowd.

John 6: 51-59

What: The crowd becomes upset with Jesus and asks Him how he could serve His flesh to them. Jesus then tells them that if the flesh is not eaten and the blood is not drank, there is no eternal life.

Life Application: I think this passage is foreshadowing to the last supper. Jesus talks about eating the flesh and drinking the blood, just as he did at the last supper.
