1. How did this first week go for you? Was the online platform challenging? Why or why not? What could Mr. Burr have done better?
This first week went well. Although I lost a point or two on the quizzes and ran into trouble when uploading my project (explained in Question #4), I opened canvas everyday and watched the videos every day. The online platform is pretty easy for me, I did not run into issues. There was really nothing Mr. Burr couldn't have done better. I loved how he informed us when Vimeo went down and all the issues I had were more on my end.
2. What was the most valuable thing you learned this week? Why?
The most valuable thing I learned this week was the importance of having proper transitions. When there are clean transitions between shots, the video quality is a lot better.
3. How were the Lynda.com tutorials? What did you like or not like about them?
There was pretty much nothing I disliked about the Lynda tutorials. I enjoyed the step by step and expansive video and how they hit every aspect of iMovie. A slight issue I had was that they were too long at times, they could have been more concise.
4. How did you feel about the Capture a Location project? What went well? What could go better?
I really enjoyed this project. I enjoyed brainstorming ideas and how it would all work out, it was fun see it all come together. Also, my Dad helped me film and it was a sort of bonding experience as he gave me advice on how to shoot and getting proper lighting. One thing I feel could have gone better was my voiceover. I went with this motivational theme of: Action, Anguish, Achievement, which you can hear me saying throughout the video in that order. The issue lies in the fact that you can barely hear me, especially the last few seconds when I say "these can all be found on the court"; I wish I turned the volume up on my mic.
5. Do you feel like you have a basic understanding of iMovie and shooting video on your phone? Why or why not?
Yes, I feel like I have a great understanding of iMovie and shooting videos on my phone. Over my freshman year, I was in various group projects in which we had to make a video and edit it. I did not know how to use iMovie so I could not help in that aspect. Now, I am able to confidently edit videos and I know the do's and don't's of shooting video.
