It can be done on phones or devices. In addition to supporting late work completion on asynchronous days with Small Group and Schoology Messages, this method provides engaging learning for all students, including those students who always turn in work on time. I  embed a short video segment or highly visual reading related to the unit of study  into the Schoology Assessment feature. (This feature supports unique learners with its functions like Read Aloud.) I include 5 questions that self grade (no writing - only multiple choice, matching, true/ false, ordering) and allow 2 attempts. The submitted Assessment shows up immediately in my grade book. I explain that the titles of assignments that have a "not submitted" comment can simply be clicked on and all of the information opens up, even on locked assignments. My students then simply send me their responses to locked assignments as a Schoology Message.
