We would go to Mexicali, Mexico, where my mother was born and raised. We visited multiple times a year, for everything from holidays (mostly Thanksgiving and Christmas, even though Thanksgiving is an American holiday), birthdays, and other important events, like funerals and even the opening of my aunt and uncle's church.
