After much thought this weekend, I've decided that my word for this year is invest. I want to focus on investing more time and thought into my relations as well as my roles as a mother, wife, teacher, daughter, sister, colleague, and friend. I want to invest in doing little things everyday that will make a more positive outcome. I want to invest in my teaching practice by setting up small routines that will help me to have a bigger impact on my students in the short time I have with them. I want to invest in myself by being more cognoscente of how I fuel and regenerate my body.

My word for this year is "Time". We all know there is never enough time, so I want to make a point this year to create and find more time. I want to find time for doing what I love and enjoy, and spending time with people I love. For teaching, it means making the most of the time I have with my students and being completely present with them. I can waste time, or I can make a point to use my time wisely. No time like the present!

So much goes on in our daily lives whether it is for work or in our personal life. My word for 2018 is breathe. When you get stressed out, or are feeling overwhelmed, just stop, and take a breath. Know that everything will be okay and it will all work out somehow, some way. It might not get done right away or end up exactly the way you intended it to work out, but just remember to breathe!!!

I need to learn how to say "no" to myself. I am very good at saying "no" to my children but can't say "no" to myself whether it's shopping, eating, binge watching t.v, or convincing myself that I don't need to work out...people may say that putting yourself first means saying "yes" but sometimes it's knowing when to say "no" too:)

I love this. One word to keep you motivated is simple and yet so powerful. Last year, my word was balance and this year (although I still need to work on balance), I wanted something different. I went through MANY words and landed on PROCESS. Last June, I stumbled upon this commencement speech and it spoke to me.

At the time (and now) It was exactly what I needed in my life. LOVE YOUR PROCESS. Be grateful for the journey. If you focus on the end goal, you miss all the rest (what life is about). These last few months, I have been completely focused on one thing and I do feel like I missed much of my journey. So here is to 2018… Not missing anymore of the journey and learning to love my process. #Vulnerable #2018Word #Process
