You could have a low IQ and be very good at surviving, and vice versa. There is no certain intelligence that we can measure so we can not really define it just yet.

There are multiple kinds of intelligence that are relevant in different situations. Intelligence could also be someone's ability to communicate to another. If someone who is unable to communicate their thoughts, even if they are brilliant, they are considered less intelligent than someone who is able to speak their mind.

There are other types of intelligence that involve the brain, but are for doing tasks and social ability. Intelligence is the measure of skill, but there are different subcategories of it.

Intelligence really depends on context. For example, sometimes a person may be classified as "book smart," but not as "street smart," and vice-versa. Can having either of these attributes describe you as intelligent? It depends on how you view it, but generally intelligence means that you have a proficient general knowledge of multiple topics and can teach and define them.

There are different types of intelligence, for example there is a more smart kind of intelligence. Emotional intelligence, or social intelligence. Of course I guess if there had to be a definition it would just be the ability to understand or figure something out. It's your ability to do something well, sort of. Like I said it's hard to define.

Colloquially, this is often how intelligence as an adjective is used, but this is not the only way it can be can. Some people are not only intelligence educationally, but they can also be emotionally intelligent, or be intelligent in other ways. Not everyone is intelligent in the same way.

Intelligence is also being able to teach others the valuable information you learned in a way that makes sense to the person.

In modern day, being intelligent is essentially containing broad knowledge, both in academic and social context. It is the also ability to easily gain this knowledge, which is usually complex ideas or thoughts. Obtaining information in this way is the first step to being intelligent but then the "intelligent" person must apply their knowledge and be able to explain it to others in a way that shows complete understanding. There are a variety of different types (book smarts, street smarts, etc) of intelligence and an intelligent person may excel at one and not in another, which does not make them unintelligent but rather skilled in one area. However, the word intelligence it is used highly out of context in today's society.
