  • They tried to fix this problem by creating employment opportunities for young people who were trying to join the workforce.
  • 2 other things I learned about this program was they primarily targeted people in lower income families so they could make a lasting impact for their futures.  Another thing I learned is that the Job Corps is still relevant today, with thousands of college students taking advantage of the programs it has to offer.

    Medicare helped the elderly obtain medical insurance.

    Medicaid helped the disenfranchised obtain medical insurance. 
    In 1972, the Medicare was expanded to cover the disabled.  Prescriptions also became available under the act.

    President LBJ signed the Medical Care Act into law on July 30,1965.

It would also provide for research and book stocking in schools. Moreover, the act was also the first time the government actually got involved with helping the school system, as they had left it to the states to make decisions on that. Another interesting thing was that, because of a few changes on the bill, the military had some access to 11-12 grader's personal information, allowing the military to possibly force them to join the military upon graduating.

This would lead to overall economic growth of the economy.  They would achieve this because Kennedy believed that the tax cut would stimulate consumer demand, which in turn would lead to higher economic growth, lower unemployment, and increased federal revenues. People would have more money in their pockets to be able to by consumer goods. Three important new facts about the tax reduction of 1964 is that it cut federal income tax by 20%. The federal income tax fell from 91% all the way down to 70%. It has been reported that the decrease in income taxes decreased by $10 million dollars. This cut also helped and had a huge impact of the disabled and elderly. This act was very successful because of the large degree of tax cuts and the less spending domestically.   • This act was enacted to ensure that funds from the federal government were being spent on revitalizing urban areas. The main goal was for cities to use the funds to redevelop areas that had deteriorated, such as those considered “slums”; however, the act also offered cities aid  to implement measures related to improving transportation, public safety, water and air quality, among others. 
  • The bill was somewhat controversial since some worried it would be too expensive. 
  • In the long run, this act helped the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development be able to assist cities in implementing programs that would improve urban life throughout the country.

One thing I learned was that this Act was passed during the Johnson administration. It was to make sure that consumers have the information they need to choose as best as they can among all products. A second thing I learned was that the lowest federal penalty for not including measurements was about $10,000 dollars. A third thing I learned was that state regulators have the power to remove products from shelves in a store if the products were not followed with the guidelines.

Each was headed by its own administrator. I also learned that it led to that the National Transportation Safety Board to oversee accident investigations and determine the cause of accidents.
