It is one of the main archaeological sites of the Yucatan peninsula, in Mexico. It is located in the municipality of Tinum, in the state of Yucatán. It consisted of a city or a ceremonial center, which went through various construction periods and influences from the different peoples that occupied it and that promoted it since its foundation. An important and renowned vestige of the Mayan civilization, the main buildings that remain there correspond to the period called late classic or early post-classic.
The monumental architecture that has survived to this day, which is emblematic of the site, has a clear Toltec influence. The Chichén Itzá Observatory, also known as the Caracol, is a round structure very similar to those that exist in other parts of Mesoamerica.

From the Cancun Bus Terminal (Av. Tulum, corner Av. Uxmal) you have to take the only bus heading to Chichén Itzá, which leaves at approximately 9:00 a.m. It takes about 3 and a half hours because it stops in several towns and costs about 8 USD. From Playa del Carmen or Tulum you will have to go to the Cancun bus terminal.
To go by car
From Cancun, Playa del Carmen or Tulum you have to take route 1800 to Valladolid and from there take 180 to Piste and before arriving there is Chichen Itzá.
