Excalibur is considered a symbol of his divine kingdom and power. The Excalibur is a very powerful weapon and the name means ' Cut-steel'. The sword is to protect the possessor from dying for it might fall into the wrong hands. The owner of the Excalibur gave it to his knight ordering him to return the Excalibur to the Lady of the Lake. </div>]]></description>

Because of this he goes to the underworld and bargains with the god Hades to return his wife, but on one condition. Hades said that If Orpheus looked back at his bride while climbing out of the underworld he would take her back in. Orpheus agreed then just to make sure he looked at his wife after he climbed out but it was too soon. Hades was underneath them so he took her soul back and slowly she disappeared.</div>]]></description>

Someone who was swept away by his music was Eurydice. Orpheus and Eurydice had just gotten married and were madly in love, but one day as they were in the woods Eurydice was bitten by a snake. Orpheus was so heartbroken that he decided to take the dangerous journey down to the underworld to get her back. When he got there Hades permitted him to take Eurydice back under the condition that he would not look back until they reached the upper world.
