The reason this is an issue is because Putin is a very selfish man that corrupts the country and utilises it's power to his advantage even if that means a part of the country has to starve or Russia has to invade Ukraine again. His changing of the constitution will allow him to stay in power until he dies and any opposition that opposes him will get destroyed straight away due to all the propaganda and biased voting towards Putin. Recently there has been an incident of a man named Alexei Navalny that tried to oppose Putin and publicise all his corruption on social media, he has been poisoned by Putin's corrupted FSB which is just a successor to the Soviet KGB. On Navalny's return back to Russia he has been arrested and sent to prison because he tried to bring Putin to justice. In prison he wasn't fed for weeks and wasn't allowed out of his cell and couldn't even see a doctor as he has lost 7kg in the span of a month. Here is a clip on the subject if anyone is interested:
